One of the problems with the iPhone and iPad is that there is no expandable memory option. The Kingston Wi-Drive addresses this is a very unique way and it just so happens that you can now get one for up to 54% off. That’s a crazy good deal.

What you get is a device about the size of an iPod touch that comes with 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of internal storage. You can load up the content via a USB 2.0 connection on your computer. Then, you turn on the Wi-Drive and it turns into a Wi-Fi hotspot. Your iPhone, iPad, or really any WiFi-enabled device can then connect to the WEP/WPA-secured hotspot and access all the files stored within. Better yet, up to three devices can connect to the same Wi-Drive at the same time. This is great for music, movies, photos and more.

The Kingston Wi-Drive can be purchased on Amazon.com for about half price, depending on your choice of capacity. The 16GB is on sale for $59.50, down from its regular price of $129.99. Alternatively, you can bump up to the 32GB ($99.99) or the 64GB ($119.99), which are marked down from their respective regular prices of $179.99 and $228.00.

Ahead of the launch of the new iPad 2, Apple has officially pushed out iOS 4.3. The new iOS update will be supported by the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, newer iPod Touch devices, iPad, and iPad 2. That’s the good news.

The bad news is that if you happen to have the Verizon version of the iPhone 4, you’re still going to be out of luck for the time being. Now, why would Apple be leaving Big Red out in the cold? Well, one of the main features accompanying iOS 4.3 is support of a WiFi hotspot (without having to jailbreak and all that); the Verizon iPhone 4 already has an updated version of iOS 4.2 that includes that feature.

With the wireless hotspot function, you can share your 3G network connection with up to five devices. Strangely enough, only three of those can be over Wi-Fi. The other two leechers will have to make do with USB or Bluetooth. That’s kind of odd, don’t you think? The new iOS 4.3 also comes with “improved support for AirPlay media streaming.”

Rounding out the updates are an improved Safari with faster JavaScript loading, iTunes Home Sharing, and iPad side switch switching… you can make that side switch lock the screen rotation or mute the volume, something that was taken away and now given back to you. See, there is one more thing and it’s the funnest feature ever. Everything has changed, again?

Having a mobile hotspot is pretty useful when you’re traveling across the country with your laptop (and iPad) in tow. Having a mobile hotspot capable of latching onto the 4G WiMAX network from Sprint is even better, and that seems to be happening with the Novatel-sourced Sprint 3G/4G MiFi 4082 pictured here.

At least we think it’s a real product shot and not some enthusiast’s attempt at PhotoShop. As you can imagine, the new MiFi will work in much the same way as the countless other MiFi devices that have now infiltrated the market. You turn it on, it connects to the cellular network, and you get WiFi access to the interweb on your preferred mobile device.

Aside from the obvious appeal of 4G connectivity, it’s also nice that the MiFi 4082 looks a little sleeker than the current plain plastic numbers making their way through most other carriers. It looks like you’ll get some brushed aluminum and a shiny chrome bezel, assuming this photo holds true. The indicator lights above the power button don’t look too bad either.

No word on price or availability, of course, but the Sprint 3G/4G MiFi 4082 has reportedly finishing jumping through the hoops at FCC, so it should be in the clear any day now. You know, assuming Sprint is ready to go.

What to do. You have a solid 3G connection with your USB modem, your colleagues are sitting around pretending to do something on a disconnected laptop, you need to share that connection somehow. With Connect One’s Wi-Reach Classic you just insert your 3G USB modem, and voila, a Wi-Fi cloud appears sharing with up to 10 people.

A great solution for a portable internet sharing appliance that first in your pocket. Wi-Reach uses built-in rechargeable batteries which charge off USB, giving you about “four to five hours in normal use.”
