Get ready for yet another smartphone OS from HTC

HTC got its start in the smartphone business by creating a wide range of Windows Mobile handsets under a variety of different banners. More recently, the company has developed a good number of Google Android phones too. Well, it seems that HTC Has yet another card up its sleeve: its own smartphone OS.

Cheng Hui-ming is the chief financial officer of HTC and he recently had an interview with Bloomberg wherein he revealed that the company is developing its own smartphone platform. As if Android and Windows Mobile weren’t enough, they want to add yet another OS to the mix.

AT&T adds Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus to phone line

AT&T plans to offer the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus to their network of 80 million customers. This will expand AT&T’s offering of available smartphones to include those of the Palm webOS type, the only to hit their network.

The Palm Pre Plus has a slider keyboard and 16GB of storage. It will sell for $149.99 with a two-year plan after a $100 mail-in rebate. Palm’s Pixi Plus is their slimmest phone and it adds Wi-Fi, a full QWERTY keyboard and two color choices of black or blue (exclusive to AT&T) on for $49.99 with a two-year plan.

Palm Pre WebOS 1.4 update will have Adobe Flash 10.1

When it was revealed at last year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, many said that it could be a serious competitor to the iPhone. Apple’s handset still reigns supreme, but that doesn’t mean Palm and Sprint are going to run and hide in a corner. They’re pushing out upgrades that’ll make the Palm Pre even more enticing, so they hope.

Sprint will be sending out the new WebOS 1.4 upgrade to Palm Pre owners after a community alert was dispatched revealing the news. The new OS comes with a range of improvements, but the most notable is support for a new Adobe Flash 10.1 plug-in from the Palm App Catalog.
