Video can be pretty great, but live video can be even better. You could stream from your cell phone, but the quality isn’t going to be the best. With Live Shell, you can stream directly from your camcorder of choice directly to the web, all without using a PC as an intermediary.

The wireless accessory looks like it can work with a number of different camcorders, getting the video feed through a standard HDMI connection. It takes three AA batteries and connects to the Internet via WiFi or Ethernet, streaming your feed directly to your Ustream channel. The batteries are said to last about three hours of straight shooting.

You can see the Cerevo Live Shell in action through the embedded video above. It’s all in Japanese, but the setup and use seem easy enough to follow. It’s “coming soon” for $299.

Who wants to come back to see their car broken into, or worse, no car at all? You may have an alarm installed, but is it doing the job it’s intended to? Sometimes not, and Intel is taking owners’ complaints and come up with just the right solution: a Car Security System that connects to your smartphone via an application.

When someone breaks into your car the system begins streaming video to a cloud server to which the car is connected over a mobile network and also notifies the driver. Plus, the video can be stored for later, in case you want to use it as a Court proof. Besides the security system function, the app developed by Intel allows Apple and Android users to open the car door, start their car and other basic functions. A real thief may know this, setup a wireless blocker and steal your car anyway. Whether or not the streaming video is recorded and sotred locally before being sent to a cloud is unknown. There’s also the fact that what if you’re in an area with poor or no coverage, video streaming takes huge bandwidth at a high speed. Unless you want a 320×240 clip to upload to youtube and tell your friends, hey look at my car being stolen!

This technology is still a concept and in development, Intel may have answers for these questions when it gets closer to official release.

Maybe you travel for work. Maybe you travel for fun. Maybe you have a long and boring commute on the train every morning. Whatever the case, you might not be in your living room to watch your favorite TV shows. And that’s where the Vulkano Flow can come into the picture.

Yeah, it sounds similar in scope to something like a Slingbox. The “placeshifter” comes preloaded with software for PC and Mac clients, but you can also download a number of clients for your portable devices. Right now, they’ve got support for iOS, Android and BlackBerry, but they’re working on clients for Windows Phone 7 and Symbian too.

All of the clients have electronic programming guides and you can record your TV on your PC/Mac for later viewing anywhere. It’ll work with any service provider and streams at up to 2.5mbps. And yes, you can do the usual fast forwarding and rewinding of live TV too.

Something that comes off as a little silly is that the PC and Mac clients come included with the $99 Vulkano Flow device, but you have to fork out $12.99 for each of the mobile apps. Shouldn’t they just include that?

You don’t even need to be at your computer. Thanks to the kind folks at Netflix, you can go ahead and enjoy all your movies and other programming on the road with the newly released Netflix for iPhone app.

The iPad version of the app has been available for a little while now, letting you watch all kinds of different shows and such through that giant multi-touch display, but what if you don’t have an iPad? What about the iPhone and iPod touch owners in the audience?

Well, the day has come. We all knew it was coming and it was only a matter of time before an iPhone Netflix app came around. The app itself is free and can be found through the usual App Store, but it’s pretty much useless without the $8.99/month a plan.

Even so, that’s so much cheaper than regular cable TV or conventional DVD movie rentals. And you can take it with you on the go too! Just be wary of that bandwidth!

The Apple iPad doesn't officially hit stores until tomorrow, but Apple has already opened the floodgates by releasing many of the iPad apps through iTunes. One of these happens to be theNetflix iPad app and, get this, it fully supports video streaming.

This means that it can do so much more than just queue up some videos for later viewing; you can actually watch all your Netflix content right on your iPad. That's pretty sweet. The iTunes App Store had screenshots and other information about the Netflix iPad app, but they seem to have been removed it in the meantime should you feel so inclined to read up on it before getting your hands on an iPad this Saturday. Streaming video to your iPad is free to Netflix members on plans starting at just $8.99 a month.

The post Confirmed: Netflix iPad app available tomorrow appeared first on Mobile Magazine.

“The innovation and consumer appeal of iPad make it a perfect device for instantly watching TV episodes and movies streamed from Netflix,” said Reed Hastings, Netflix co-founder and chief executive officer. “We are excited to make a Netflix App available to iPad users beginning with the iPad launch.”

Interestingly enough, the app itself is rated for audiences 12 and older due to simulated gambling, fantasy violence, and suggestive themes. I guess it can show previews and such that may not be appropriate for the younger set?
