Perhaps you are in love with the Apple iPhone form factor, but you’d prefer to have things running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. If that’s the case, this budget unlocked smartphone could be just the ticket.

To be fair, the listed manufacturer for this Android 4.0 iPhone Knockoff is simply “China,” so it may not give you a lot of confidence in terms of user support. That said, the specs on paper are sounding pretty decent, especially for the price. It’s a quad-band GSM smartphone with a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen. It runs on ICS, has 4GB of storage, 512MB RAM, and a 1600mAh battery. There’s also WiFi, GPS, and dual cameras.

One of the most notable features, though, is that it has dual SIM card slots, allowing you to handle two separate phone numbers through the same smartphone. And yes, it bears a striking resemblance to the iPhone 4/4S, complete with that characteristic home button beneath the touchscreen. You’ll certainly fool more than a few casual passers-by.

The real kicker, though, is the price. It’s selling for just $141.89, including free super saver shipping from Amazon. That’s unlocked and unsubsidized. It even has an overall customer rating of 4/5 stars with 77 customer reviews on Amazon. That’s got to add some confidence, right?

Yes, I know that you can head on over to your wireless provider of choice and get a new smartphone for a reduced price when you sign on with a contract, but that’s just not suitable for some people. Some people prefer to have their phones unsubsidized and out of contractual obligations, so if you want a unlocked Galaxy Note 2, this is the deal for you.

As a quick refresher, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 features a great 5.55″ high resolution Super AMOLED display, quad core 1.6GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB storage, microSD expansion up to 64GB, 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, and that S Pen stylus that makes the “Note” series.

The unlocked version on sale here is the N7100. What this means is that it has quad-band GSM and quad-band HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100. Given this, it should be fully compatible with AT&T in the United States, as well as Rogers, Bell and Telus in Canada, among several other carriers around the world. The 3G will not work, though, with T-Mobile, Wind or Mobilicity.

The factory unlocked Galaxy Note 2 is on sale for $645 on Amazon, which is $355 (35%) off the list price of $999.99. You gotta pay for this kind of power, right!

The Samsung Galaxy S III Mini was announced last month, but Samsung didn’t make it clear whether the smaller cousin of the full-size S3 would be made available for the US market. That answer has now been provided courtesy of Amazon, because the online retailer has listed the Samsung smartphone.

The idea with the S3 Mini, in case you’re not so familiar, is to take the form factor of the S3, shrink it down, and reduce the specs for a reduced price. The net result is a Google Android 4.1 smartphone with a 4.0-inch Super AMOLED display, dual core 1GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 8/16GB storage and microSD expansion. There’s a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a VGA camera on the front. Realistically, the specs make it sound like an S II in a shrunken down S III body.

Now, it’s debatable whether the unlocked Galaxy S III Mini is worth it. You’ll find it listed on Amazon.com for $398.91 with 8GB of memory. By comparison, the equally unlocked but vanilla Android-powered 8GB Google Nexus 4 by LG is $100 less than that. Maybe you like TouchWiz and don’t want to try finding (or pay for) an unlocked S3. If that’s the case, the S3 Mini isn’t so shabby.

Yes, the upcoming Google Nexus 4 is a pretty amazing deal starting at just $299, but what if you want something even cheaper while still retaining that whole “unlocked out of the box” smartphone experience? Amazon has a pretty great deal on the Dell Venue Android smartphone, slashing the price in half and giving you an unlocked smartphone for less than $200.

The Dell Venue is powered by Android 2.2 Froyo and comes with a 4.1-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display. Other features include the 1GHz processor, 8MP camera, Full Adobe Flash 10.1, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and HQ Corning Gorilla Glass. There’s a 16GB microSD card that comes pre-installed for storage and let’s not forget that this phone is factory unlocked, so you can use it with GSM carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, and Rogers Wireless.

No, it’s not the newest thing in the world and Dell isn’t exactly in the smartphone game anymore, but consider that the Dell Venue can be yours for just $174.99 (regular list price of $349.00) and you can see how this is a pretty good value. You’ll be pretty unique among your friends too, because I doubt any of them will have a Dell smartphone. And that includes free super saver shipping too.

Maybe you’re not a fan of signing lengthy contracts, but you also don’t want to spend $500 or more on an unsubsidized smartphone. This deal on the Motorola Pro Plus MB632 could be just the ticket.

Yes, it’s true that this Android smartphone isn’t quite as sexy as the HTC One X or the Samsung Galaxy S III, but you are paying a fraction of the unsubsidized price. The Motorola MB632 has a 1GHz single core processor to go along with its 3.1-inch touchscreen display. You’ll also notice that, unlike so many other smartphones these days, this one actually has a full physical QWERTY keyboard.

Going through the rest of the specs and features, we find Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 5MP camera with LED flash, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, 4GB internal memory, microSD expansion (up to 32GB) and the usual array of Google services like Gmail, Search and Google Maps with Navigation.

Find the Motorola MB632 on Amazon for $199.99 outright, a $100 savings off the regular price of $300.

You don’t have to trudge your way through a lengthy contract with a carrier just because you want a hot new smartphone. No, that’s just not right. And so, Sony Ericsson has just announced that two of its newer Android devices are now available in unlocked form in the United States.

Both the Xperia arc S and the Xperia neo V come loaded with Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread and they’re initially being sold through Sony Store locations across the country. Some time next month, they’ll also pop up at other retailers and e-tailers, including Newegg and Amazon.

The cheaper of the two is the Xperia neo V. It has a 3.7-inch display, 5MP rear camera, a front-facing videocall camera, your choice of three colors, HDMI-out, and the 3D sweep panorama technology. All this is wrapped up in a $349.99 package. The Xperia arc S also does the 3D sweep thing, but it bumps up to 4.2-inch “Reality” display with Mobile BRAVIA, as well as an 8MP camera with Exmor R, a 1.4GHz processor, and your choice of four colors. That carries an MSRP of $549.99.

Do you want the largest Android smartphone on the market but not at all interested in signing a carrier contract? Well, you’re in luck. Head on over to Dell and they’ll gladly equip you with a factory unlocked Dell Streak. Better yet, it comes with Android 2.2 right out of the box.

As you may already know, the locked version of the Streak being sold by wireless providers can still come preloaded with Android 1.6, so it’s nice to see the newer OS version pre-installed on the unlocked variant.

The five-inch behemoth of a smartphone (you can call it a tablet if you prefer) does the multi-touch thing for zoom and it supports Flash. It’ll do USB tethering and 3G hotspot creation too, should you feel so inclined. I’m not a fan of a phone of this size, but I have at least one friend who is very interested.

For now, the factory unlocked Streak only comes in black and sells for $579. If you can hold out (and if you’re okay with carrier locks), AT&T will have a white model and a Cherry Red version too, both of which are $550 sans contract. Lock in for two years of data and it can be had for $300.
