The new iPad, as you know, has arrived with impressive specs, but all those features have resulted in the device becoming fatter and heavier. That’s certainly not a big problem, but those of you who are dying to see a super-thin tablet should check out the Android-running Archos G10 XS, which is the latest in a series of G tablets from the company.

Yes, that’s yet another Android tablet. But while all the other manufacturers focus on design and specs to set their Android tablets apart from other Android slates, Archos is concentrating on another aspect: material. The tablets in the G10 series will boast a chassis that is made of “paper-thin” steel, rather than aluminum.

The new material might have helped the company to design the G10 XS with a thickness of only 7.6mm. In comparison, the new iPad measures in at 9.39mm. But an incredibly thin tablet is not actually a big thing. It won’t be effecting user experience that much. Hopefully the device, which will be running Ice Cream Sandwich, will arrive with attractive specs.

And the slate also has a keyboard dock (which doesn’t appear to be adding that much to the thickness), which might make it a rival to the Asus Transformer Prime. No hints on when the device will be released, but we are expecting it to arrive sometime later this year. It will have a price tag between €200 and €400 (around $250-500).

The company is also planning some budget and mid-range models, head here if you want to take a peek at some promotional materials.

*** Grain of salt alert ***

We have seen a lot of iPhone 5 rumors earlier, but this new one seems to be pretty trustworthy. It comes to us courtesy of the folks over at 9to5Mac who appear to have got the latest info on the next generation iPhone, tentatively called iPhone 5, via a Foxconn worker.

According to the new rumor, the iPhone 5 is ready for production at the moment and the company is planning a summer launch for it. The source has also revealed that there are many sample devices, each differing slightly from the others. So it’s impossible to tell which device will be final.

But all of these samples are equipped with 4-inch or larger screens, with one of them being made by LG. None of the samples have a MacBook Air-inspired teardrop shape (we don’t think that rumor is coming up again). They are symmetrically shaped and not a single one is having the same compact form factor as the iPhone 4 or 4S.

If the device is indeed coming with a larger screen, that will finally put the iPhone in the same display league as many of the competing Android handsets such as the Droid RAZR.

And we don’t think too many grains of salt are needed for this new rumor. Unlike many other rumors which bring out a device’s specs and tons of speculations, this new one is very vague. We have not got any exact display size, no blurry pictures of the handset and nothing about what’s under the hood. If it was made up, it won’t be too difficult for someone to pick a few possible specs.

And there is also the mentioning of the samples. As you might know, reviewing samples before selecting the final model is a standard procedure. And to add to all that, this is the same source who tipped on the iPhone 5 last year that the device was not coming and suggested we should expect the iPhone 4S. The rest is history.

It's still a rumored device for now, but this Android 2.2 phone sounds like it could seriously be a hot one. For starters, you get a 3.0-inch Super AMOLED multi-touch display to go with the full QWERTY keyboard and optical touchpad. Some people are saying that this lends itself to a slider, but a BlackBerry-esque bar phone could very well be possible too. Remember the Samsung Epix? Maybe like that, but so much newer and nicer.

The post Specs leaked for Samsung Galaxy Q Android smartphone appeared first on Mobile Magazine.

It could be that they’re just making room for the newest hotness on the block, because here are the leaked specs and features for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Q.

It’s still a rumored device for now, but this Android 2.2 phone sounds like it could seriously be a hot one.

That three-inch display has a great 720×480 pixel resolution and it’s getting mated with a snappy 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 8.0 megapixel camera with LED flash and HD video, secondary 1.3MP camera for video calls, Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, aGPS, mini-HDMI, microSD slot, and 16GB of internal memory.

That’s the good news. The bad news, for people on this side of the pond is that the 3G (HSDPA 7.2, HSUPA 5.76) doesn’t look like it’s compatible with our networks: 900/1900/2100 MHz. That makes it sound like the Galaxy Q is set for Europe, unless they offer a NAM version too.
