Samsung Galaxy Spica in Black aka: Samsung I5700

It may have started out with just the T-Mobile G1 and the HTC Dream G1 (the same hardware), but the Google Android phenomenon is really starting to pick up steam all around the world. If you’re looking for a new Android phone from Rogers, look no further than the Samsung Galaxy Spica. It has been confirmed for Canada’s big red carrier.

This started out as just a rumor, but it has been confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Spica will indeed be offered by Rogers Wireless. As expected, it’s got a big touchscreen again.

From what we hear, the Samsung Galaxy Spica comes with Android OS 1.5, but it might be upgraded to Android OS 2.0 by the time it starts shipping. Among the rest of the features are a 3.2-inch touchscreen (320×480 pixels), 3.2 megapixel camera, 3.5mm headset jack, microUSB, speakerphone, WiFi, GPS, microSD slot, and 800MHz processor.

What you see here is the supposed dummy phone and, from what we can see, thsi dummy phone is already over at Best Buy. There’s still no word on price or launch date, but the most recent rumblings point toward a release later this month.
