The Galaxy Nexus is expected to be release very soon, it’s even now listed in the VZW’s Device Management system as “Samsung Galaxy Nexus”, confirming the “G-Nex” nickname. According to the listing, the new phone will have a 4G LTE radio to take advantage of the fastest network out there.

We also know that the device will not hit the global market just yet, as it shows an “N” for “No” in that category. This could turn up to be frustrating for a lot of people, considering the GSM version will be able to travel the globe.

Concerns about battery life come especially since 4G is listed as one of the features of the new device, but most importantly because it might join the rest of the Verizon LTE devices, who have been having battery problems lately. Samsung is definitely on the right track, they have announced on Monday that over 30 million Galaxy S/Galaxy S II smartphones have been sold globally. This is a good jump since their 10 million Galaxy S II units sold since late September. The Galaxy S II is the companies fastest selling handset, it sold 3 million units in 55 days. “Since its launch only five months ago, Galaxy S II has seen tremendous sales success and garnered enthusiastic reviews from consumers and mobile industry watchers across the globe,” president and head of Samsung’s mobile business JK Shin said. “This is in addition to the continued sales momentum behind Galaxy S, which we launched at Mobile World Congress 2010 as continues to be a run-away success with consumers.”

If you happen to be reading this post from Europe and you just so happen to be a happy owner of a Samsung Galaxy S smartphone through Vodafone, I’ve got some bad news for you. Google doesn’t want you to taste Gingerbread yet.

For some unspecified reason, Google has “temporarily suspended” the rollout of Android 2.3 Gingerbread to the Samsung Galaxy S through Vodafone. They say that there are “no known performance issues,” so there really is no stated reason why Google would want to stop the update from coming out just yet.

We do have to remember, though, that this is Samsung. They don’t exactly have the best reputation for Android update timeliness, right? I’d imagine the ripple effect will affect other Galaxy S owners around the globe too. In related news, Vodafone Australia customers can look forward to Gingerbread on their Galaxy Tabs. We’re not sure what’s going on, but Android users waiting for the sweet update can’t be happy.

With a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen, NFC chip, Android’s Gingerbread OS and a dual-core processor, the Samsung Galaxy S2 has a promising spec list. And from the sounds of things, it’ll be a guest at the Mobile World Congress in February – where Shin says we’ll also see what’s in store for the Galaxy Tab’s next generation of devices.

But that seems to be all the information we’re getting for now out of Korea.

There aren’t too many days left in 2010, but Verizon subscribers may be getting a tasty little treat before they see Snooki drop in a ball in Times Square. If you happen to have a Samsung Fascinate, you could be getting the Android 2.2 Froyo update in the next few days.

No, this isn’t quite as good as the tasty new Android 2.3 Gingerbread that comes pre-loaded on the new Google Nexus S, but at least it’s a step up from what you have now. Verizon’s take on the Samsung Galaxy S platform has come catching up to do with its stablemates, after all. The “Droid” line from Verizon is already doing the Froyo thing.

If these reports hold true, it means that the Samsung Fascinate will have Froyo in the next few days, which still beats the LG Ally to the punch. That one’s not getting Android 2.2 Froyo until Q1 of next year.

And here’s the part where we dash your happiness, if just a little. There’s word that the Epic 4G, which is Sprint’s version of the Galaxy S, is going to get 2.3 Gingerbread before we all sing Auld Lang Syne. Aw, poor Fascinate owners.

Virgin Mobile, in many respects, is meant to be a second-tier carrier. After all, it’s basically the little brother to big bro Bell. That doesn’t mean that its phone selection is coming up short though, as evidenced by a leaked Q4 roadmap.

You can already find the HTC Legend at Virgin Mobile Canada, but more Android is on the way in the form of a Samsung Galaxy S. It’s not quite as clear when it comes to what version of a Galaxy S is on the way, but it does indicate a November 15 launch day. That’s the same day as the Samsung Galaxy 550, which is also known as the I5500 and Galaxy 5.

That is, unless the mention of the Galaxy S is a typo altogether and we are only expecting the Galaxy 5. I can see how someone would confuse a 5 (five) with an S (ess). Either way, it’s an Android thing.

Prefer something else? On November 9 (next week), Virgin Mobile Canada plans on launching the BlackBerry Bold 9780. This is just a minor upgrade from the 9700, but it’s an upgrade nonetheless.

The iPhone 4 may still be hard to get, at least in Canada, but it seems that Samsung is very happy with how its latest smartphone line is doing. In fact, in the 45 days since its initial release, one million units of the Samsung Galaxy S have been sold. That’s quite the milestone!

Well, maybe “sold” isn’t necessarily the right word here, because the announcement says that there are one million Galaxy S phones “shipped” in the United States. There’s a slight difference between the two, but it still speaks to the great success that Samsung has been able to enjoy with this platform.

It helps that the Galaxy S is available as the Samsung Vibrant (T-Mobile) and Samsung Captivate (AT&T), as well as the Samsung Epic 4G (Sprint) and the Samsung Fascinate (Verizon) soon. This greater choice makes it easier to push more units.

To put this into perspective, it took about 74 days for the Motorola Droid series to reach one million units, but Apple sold 1.7 million iPhone 4 devices in just three days.

Have you been anxiously waiting for some Android action with 4G and a QWERTY keyboard? The wait is almost over.

At long last, the Samsung Epic 4G will go on sale bright and early tomorrow morning at a Sprint store near you. A mass email was blasted out, saying that Sprint stores will be opening at 8 a.m. local time on Tuesday to start selling the Epic 4G.

This phone, in case you didn’t already know, is the third in the Samsung Galaxy S line to be made available in the United States, but the 4G connection and the slide-out QWERTY keyboard help it stand out from the crowd.

Sign a two-year service agreement, enjoy the $150 instant savings, and deal with the $100 mail-in rebate to get the Samsung Epic 4G for a net price of $249.99.

Samsung Epic 4G is the only 4G smartphone to offer three fast and easy ways to enter text onto the device – a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard, virtual keyboard and Swype technology, which allows users to input text faster and more intuitively with one continuous finger motion across the virtual keyboard.

Samsung 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird Application Processor supports amazing 3-D graphics, faster upload and download times and the full richness of HD-like multimedia content
With 4G from Sprint, users will be able to get turbo-charged downloads of a full library of video and literary content powered by some of the biggest names in entertainment.

Samsung Epic 4G will also share user-generated video content with other devices thanks to Samsung’s exclusive AllShare service. Everything Data plans start at $69.99 per month. A $10 per month required Premium Data add-on will allow customers to take advantage of a richer data experience than ever before.
