The recall includes about 495,000 Tacoma trucks made between 2005 to 2009, around 70,500 Camry sedans (2009 model) and about 116,000 Venza crossovers (2009-2011 models). Apparently, the Tacoma trucks between 05 and 09 have problems with their steering wheel spiral cable assemblies. Toyota said that there is likelihood for friction in some vehicles between the spiral cable and the retainer. This could in the long run cut the connection to the driver's airbag.

The post Toyota Recall to Replace Faulty Parts In Tacoma, Camry And Venza appeared first on Mobile Magazine.

Better late than never seems to be the guiding principle of Toyota, as the US wing of the Japanese Car manufacturer gets ready to recall 700,000 of its cars due to various bugs.

This could in the long run cut the connection to the driver’s airbag.

Toyota also said it could cause the airbag warning light to remain lit after the vehicle is started. But the small irritation of having a light lit on the dashboard is not the real concern here. There could also be more fatal consequences, as the driver’s airbag could get deactivated, preventing it from being deployed during an accident.

The Camry sedans and Venza crossovers are recalled to replace their stop lamp switches. According to the company, during installation of the switch at one of the North American assembly lines, silicon grease may have reached the inside of the switch causing an increase in electrical resistance. That could cause the warning lights to illuminate unnecessarily. Toyota added that the faulty switch might also prevent the vehicle from starting altogether and shifting out of “park”.

Though the company is adamant that no instances of accidents or injuries from the faulty parts have been reported so far, it is evident from the move that it doesn’t want to take any chances. Toyota is in the process of obtaining the replacement parts and once it does, it will notify the affected owners and replace the parts for free.

Just when you thought you were safe from exploding batteries, the fire-blasting wonders have risen back to the surface. Yup, the recalls are back and it's starting with HP batteries catching on fire. Again. Not good. The recalls didn't exactly end, per se. HP has been pretty proactive with its recall process, calling in any batteries that it suspects might be dangerous. What makes today's new a little more disconcerting, however, is that the list of recalled batteries continues to grow by the day.

The post HP’s exploding batteries are back, new recall for notebooks appeared first on Mobile Magazine.

Yup, the recalls are back and it’s starting with HP batteries catching on fire. Again. Not good. The recalls didn’t exactly end, per se. HP has been pretty proactive with its recall process, calling in any batteries that it suspects might be dangerous. What makes today’s new a little more disconcerting, however, is that the list of recalled batteries continues to grow by the day.

The newest group to join the list come from the HP Pavilion line, as well as ones from the Compaq Presario and other lines. The manufacture dates are between August 2007 and May 2008. If you purchased an HP or Compaq laptop during that time, you’ll want to check the list. Is your notebook affected by this recall? I think it’s time you call into the HP recall people or check the recall website to get yourself a free replacement. You’d hate to come home to a fiery blaze, I assume.

The battery packs in question were distributed worldwide in some of the following models:

HP Pavilion dv2000, dv2500, dv2700, dv6000, dv6500, dv6700, dx6000, dx6500, dx6700, dv9000, dv9500, dv9700. Compaq Presario, A900, C700, F500, F700, V3000, V3500, V3700, V6000, V6500, V6700, HP G6000, G7000, and the HP Compaq 6510b, 6515b, 6710b, 6710s, 6715b, 6715s and 6720s.

Nokia has announced a recall on millions of faulty cellphone chargers that could possibly shock users. The recall is for Nokia-branded chargers manufactured by BYD Electronic Company of China. The plastic housing surrounding the chargers can separate, thus exposing the internals potentially creating a shock hazard.

Nokia says they will replace millions of effected faulty cellphone chargers for free.

Defective Chargers

Only three chargers fit in to the recall category as of today. Chargers with model numbers AC-3E and AC-3U manufactured between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009, as well as Model number AC-4U manufactured between April 13, 2009 and October 25, 2009.

Check your Charger

Checking your charger is easy. Go to the label where the voltage and manufacturing information is printed. Here it should show your model number and manufacturer name. If yours is affected, you will need the model number (item 1) and identification number (item 2).

What To Do

To replace your charger, simply go to Nokia’s dedicated charger exchange Website, enter your charger’s model and identification numbers, then follow the rest of the steps for an exchange. Alternatively you can get a replacement by calling Nokia directly at 1-888-Nokia2U.

Nokia had previous quality issues from third-party suppliers in the past. In 2007 faulty batteries made by Matsushita Battery Industrial Co. Ltd. posed a threat of overheating. Nokia replaced 46 million batteries for customers, however a formal recall was not issued.
