Oops. You dropped your phone in the toilet. Again. If you had the Sony XPERIA acro S, it’d be less of a burden, because this stylish Android phone is water-resistant. Note that I didn’t say “waterproof” though, so it’s still in your best interest to fish it out as soon as falls into the wet stuff.

Sony is continuing with its “HD Reality Display” here, going with a 4.3-inch screen that supports full 1080p HD video recording and 720p HD video chat, as well as HDMI-out. There’s NFC on board (Xperia SmartTag), 1.5GHz dual core processor, Android 4.0 ICS, a 12MP camera, scratch-resistant mineral glass display, wet finger tracking, and IP55/IP57 ratings for dust and water resistance.

All of this water-resistant elegance can be yours in your choice of white (as shown), black, or pink. And yes, it’s PlayStation Certified too, in case you want to do some Sony-branded gaming on the go. Expect to see the global launch some time in the third quarter of this year.

Though it’s only got one lens, no projector and isn’t an all-around mind-blow like some of Sony’s other announcements at this year’s CES, their cellphone division is following the lead and pushing the envelope of just what in-phone cameras are capable of.

The new Xperia arc smartphone from Sony Ericsson obviously had photos in mind throughout the design phases. it’s got an 8.1MP camera, and with a mobile version of the same Exmor R sensor as their new high-end Cyber-shot and HandyCams, will allow for bright pictures and HD video, even in low-light settings. And comes with an ergonomically sexy arch.

Use the built-in HDMI port to switch it up from the 4.2-inch 854 x 480 multi-touch screen “reality display,” or just enjoy the 8.7mm-thick, midnight blue or misty silver beauty on its own.

The phone will be running the newest version of Android’s smartphone OS, 2.3 for its release in the first quarter this year.
