All You Need To Know About PlayStation Vita US Launch

The folks in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other select markets in Asia already have their hands on Sony’s newest handheld gaming machine, but us here in North America still have to wait until February 22 of next year. Even so, Sony has at least been kind enough to provide us with all the launch details for the upcoming PlayStation Vita, including a list of launch titles.

Sony PSP2 unveiled as the NGP: Quad-core craziness

The Sony PSP2, codename the Next Generation Portable (NGP) was unveiled in Tokyo today. The portable gaming device features a 5-inch OLED (960×544) touchscreen, dual cameras, a touch-sensitive panel on the back adding for extra control, a quad-core ARM Cortex A9 CPU and PowerVR SGX534MP4+ GPU, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, and lets not forget dual analog joysticks.

About a month ago a few grainy pictures of what looked like a PSP2 were leaked, and following that the rumor mill started to buzz with speculations on what the actual product will look like. Kojima: Metal Gear Solid lives again on PSP with Peace Walker

Shigeru Miyamoto may have come up with an iconic Italian plumber named Mario, but Hideo Kojima is the mastermind behind a crazy kook named SNAAAAAAAAKE. Some people thought that the series was done, but not Kojima. Metal Gear Solid is coming back.

According to some tweets from Kojima himself, the studio is working on a game that could “easily have been dubbed MGS5.” They say that this is a “true” Metal Gear Solid game and it seems to be destined for the Sony PSP.

Sony to make PlayStation smartphone?

A NeoGAF Forum scanned this concept design of a PlayStation smartphone.

While Sony struggles with sales of its PlayStation Portable, it has decided to get into the smartphone foray. Sony has been at the forefront of interactive electronic technology for the last 15 years, starting with the release of the first Playstation. In a market long dominated by BlackBerries, iPhones, and Androids, Sony could pose a legitimate threat.

A new Sony smartphone could have the ability to play games from Sony’s home and portable consoles by downloading them directly onto the device from Sony’s network.
