Rumors about a so-called Nexus tablet from Google have been flying around for a while. What you see above comes to us from Pocketnow and the pictured device is purported to be the search giant’s upcoming tablet. Could it be the cheap stock Android Nexus tablet meant to compete against the new iPad?

As we reported earlier, the Nexus tablet (or whatever it will be called, if it’s coming that is) is expected to have a 7-inch display and will be coming from Asus sometime this summer. If this is indeed the Nexus tablet that we are looking at, it looks more like a ten-inch slate.

It looks like it has some qualities of an upcoming Google tablet. The generic Ice Cream Sandwich OS is displaying only official ICS and Google apps; there are no third party apps or widgets visible.

But, anyone who is an expert in Photoshop can create such an image very accurately, and also we are suspicious about the presence of the Android Market icon instead of the Google Play Store (yes, it could mean that it’s an older render too). The folks over at Pocketnow are also not talking about a source. That does not mean that the image is a fake, but the image does not provide us with any good evidence to prove that it is real.

There are no hints about specs, price or the release date, but previous rumors point towards a device with a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and a $199 price tag.

Just to let you know, Android Community is saying that the above device looks similar to the 7.7-inch Tegra 3 tablet from Toshiba which was shown off at CES.

As a journalist, I have spent many hours working on illustrations and graphics that started out as doodles on a sketchpad. Scanning the image and then importing it into Illustrator or Photoshop isn’t difficult, but it is time-consuming, especially if I have to retrace the image to manipulate lines.

The new Wacom Inkling should make things a lot easier for artists, illustrators, graphic designers and pretty much everyone who doodles on real paper with a ballpoint pen and then needs to get it onto a computer. With the Inkling, you use the included ballpoint pen to doodle whatever your heart desires, and a wireless receiver stores the sketch digitally. The receiver can be clipped to the edge of standard paper or sketchbooks, as long as you’re using them on flat and rigid drawing surfaces.

Then, when you’ve finished drawing, you just hook up the receiver to your computer via USB to transfer the digital files. Files are opened with the Inkling Sketch Manager software where you can manage layers or change file formats to JPEG, TIFF or PDF and then open the fully layered files in Photoshop or Illustrator.

Yes, we know ink-to-digital pens are nothing new, but the pressure sensor technology of the Inkling is pretty neat. The gadget has 1024 levels of pressure, and pressure variations all appear in the digital version of the drawing. You can export your doodles as a vector illustration to Adobe Illustrator, which will allow you to re-work your lines in any way you want. That sounds pretty good to me.

The Wacom Inkling comes with a pen, receiver, rechargeable batteries, four spare pen ink cartridges, charging case and the Inkling Sketch Manager Application, which can be stored in the Inkling receiver. The Wacom Inkling will be available in the middle of September for $199.

Adobe Photoshop.com Mobile for the Android 1.1

What happens when you see an image with the file format having the extension PSD? That’s correct, you automatically think of the current industry leader in image manipulation, Adobe Photoshop.

The PSD file format is so popular that even rival image manipulation programs support the PSD file format. With Adobe re-branding its flagship software as CS “Creative Suite” and creating an application for the iPhone, it was only a matter of time before we saw Photoshop for the Google Android line of phones. Called the “Photoshop.com Mobile for the Android 1.1” – it allows the user to do easy photo editing and image effects on the fly.

Here’s the interesting part: Photoshop.com editor is available to software developers, and they can provide it within the environment of almost any application they are working on.

So let’s say you’re on Facebook and using a social media application, you can access Photoshop editing tools and edit your pictures and publish them right there and then. Your profile pictures are going to look fantastic, even those taken when you’re having a bad hair day.

Doug Mack, vice president and general manager of Digital Imaging and Rich Media Solutions at Adobe, touted Photoshop.com Mobile as the ‘go-to’ photo editing application for both iPhone and Android devices.

A developer’s website gives Android developers access to the nuts and bolts of how to integrate Photoshop.com Mobile for Android 1.1 editor in other applications. This developers website is providing the application and source code on how to integrate it with an existing application. It’s a smooth and developer friendly process and don’t be surprised if you see this feature very soon in a lot of online applications.

The end user for the Android phone benefits because now they get applications with even greater features and a wider range of integrated Photoshop functionality. They have access to popular tools such as the sketch tool, soft focus, vibrant colors and a whole host of special effects to satisfy all their image manipulation cravings.

Photoshop.com Mobile for Android 1.1 is available to download here: http://mobile.photoshop.com/android or by scanning the QR code from your Android smartphone.

There may not be a flash there, but wouldn’t it be nice if you could do a little bit of photo editing on the go? Yup, there’s an app for that and it comes from one of the most trusted names in photomanipulation.

You could easily drop several hundred dollars on a full install of Adobe PhotoShop on your MacBook Pro and you’d certainly get a more robust utility, but you don’t want to overlook this alternative for the iPhone. That’s because Adobe has decided to release a version of PhotoShop for the iPhone and it is 100% free.

Yes, free PhotoShop for the iPhone. There are other photomanipulation options through the App Store, but this is coming from the guys at Adobe. I haven’t had a chance to test it out (since I don’t have an iPhone), but you should feel free to give it a whirl since, you know, it’s a free download.

Find Adobe Photoshop.com Mobile for the iPhone in the App Store and edit at will.
