New Apple Patent Allows Internal Components to “Disappear”

The idea of hiding certain software components on a mobile device isn't exactly new. Many modern Android devices utilize buttons that are completely within the software. When they are needed, they show up. When they aren't-- they vanish temporarily. Apple apparently wants to take the concept further though, and has filed their own patent. Google wants to surround your entire body with tons of computing devices, it seems. First we have the smartphone, which Google already controls through Android. Next we have the Project Glass computerized glasses. It's not enough to have a computer in your pocket (your phone, duh) and a computer in your glasses, now they want your wrist, too.

Lodsys is a company which purchases potentially great and super broad patents, and it employs these patents to threaten to litigate those who “might be infringing” on them. They do this by searching for a patent, finding out how many people are working on it and then they buy that patent.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 banned from the EU

German courts have ruled in Apple’s favour in the California company’s latest lawsuit against Samsung. The ruling states that no Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets will be sold in the European Union (Netherlands excluded) due to alleged infringement of both patents and style. Any store who infringes on the ban and continues to sell the device will face either $350,000 fines or imprisonment of management.

Patent applications often help us get a clue of what tech giants are up to, even if their ideas may or may not be applied to use and end up being thrown out in the wild to shake competitors. Anyhow, if a recent Sony patent is to be made in to reality, it could reveal what the company is cooking up in its R&D lab; a Play Station controlled interactive doll. Strange for us, sure, but I bet it would be welcomed by many young boys and girls who already don't have enough talking computer controlled toys. It may be the excuse you are looking for to convince your significant other to get that PS3.

Apple Pico Projector Patent uses Lasers: LaserBooks Coming Soon?

We've seen plenty of pico projector technologies surfacing as of late, and with the introduction of pico lasers, they may now be up to Apple's standards. This new patent recently surfaced over at Picopros, it shows the Apple patent entitled, "Display System Having Coherent and Incoherent Light Sources." That's not as sexy as the sounds of MacBook or PowerMac, but i'm sure Apple is working on the name if and when this gets released.
