WebOS to Live Again with LG and Smart TVs

After going through Palm and HP, webOS is now apparently being purchased by LG. The apparent plan is that webOS won’t appear on LG smartphones, but rather it will be used on LG Smart TVs. That’s the current plan, but LG isn’t ruling out the possibility that webOS could be adapted for their smartphones and tablets too.

Wiping-Out WebOS Will Cost HP $3.3 Billion More

It’s been a while since HP has erased every single thing related to Palm. Now, the whole world has come to know that all this costed HP nothing less than $3.3 Billion American Dollars. To this amount, we have to add $1.2 Billion, which was the amount that HP spent while buying Palm. As a total, you can see that HP has come up to $5 Billion in losses; this related to their mobile industry.

HP internal testing reveals webOS running twice as fast on iPad

We’re hearing that internal testing at HP led to the loading of webOS onto an Apple iPad and, well, it blew the TouchPad out of the water. The precise details are quite scarce, but we’re hearing that webOS ran “twice as fast” on the Apple iPad hardware than it did on the HP TouchPad. This leads us to believe that it’s the hardware, and not the software, that led to the ultimate demise of webOS at HP.

HP officially announces Palm Pre 2, webOS 2.0

The original Palm Pre was the darling of CES 2009 and many industry experts pegged it as the first real competition to the Apple iPhone. While it achieved some success, it never really took off and Palm was eventually sold to HP. Well, that new relationship has birthed a successor in the form of the Palm Pre 2 and it’s all official.
