A new rumor is suggesting that Apple’s iOS 7 is coming with deeper integration for photo-sharing service Flickr and video sharing site Vimeo.

The post Apple iOS 7: Deep Integration for Flickr and Vimeo Coming? appeared first on Mobile Magazine.

News flash: Apple’s iOS is more locked down than Android … okay, that’s not exactly a secret. This is why something like Facebook Home is not available on any iDevice at the moment. But they did bring deep integration for Facebook and Twitter earlier, and are apparently going to do the same trick once again, this time with Flickr and Vimeo.

According to 9to5Mac, the photo-sharing service and the video sharing site are going to get new connections in Apple’s upcoming iOS 7.

The rumor says iOS 7 users will be allowed to sign into their Flickr and Vimeo accounts through the settings menus, like how you can integrate Facebook and Twitter accounts now. And both the services could be accessed by third party apps. You will be able to upload photos and videos to both the services directly from the iOS Photos app.

The iOS users who have Flickr and Vimeo accounts will certainly benefit from the integration, if it happens that is. It will also be good for both the services as well. Yahoo would certainly welcome more traffic to Flickr, which has just been updated in a major way.

But the inclusion of Vimeo is a surprise, as the site is mainly for short films and high-quality videos. Videos shot in a smartphone end up most of the time on YouTube. But, Apple’s OS X is integrated with both Flickr and Vimeo, so the new rumor can’t be pushed aside that easily.

We will keep you updated about iOS 7, so stay tuned to Mobilemag.

While we’re not yet sure which jungle cat they’re going to choose next, we’re hearing rumblings that Apple is planning to integrate both the Siri voice assistant and Apple Maps into the newest build of Mac OS X. This is based on early test builds of OS X 10.9, the retail version of which should be launching next year.

The OS X 10.9 version of Siri should be much like the version that you’ve already seen on your iOS devices, letting you do the voice assistant thing to search for stuff on the web or add events to your calendar. Remember that Mountain Lion already has Dictation, which is using the same kind of hardware resources and infrastructure as Siri already. It wouldn’t take much to take that leap.

As far as Apple Maps go, they’re also reportedly getting integrated in OS X 10.9, allowing developers to embed a map into the apps they list through the Mac App Store. They’ll use the same MapKit framework as developing for iOS, but it’s also possible that a full-blown Maps app could make its way to Mac OS X too.

If we assume that Apple will follow a similar release schedule as it did with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, then early previews should appear in February with the formal launch coming around July.

You can go ahead and game on your iMac too, using your iPhone or iPad as the controller in Real Racing 2. The OS X driving game can be played the conventional way, but it can also offer a Wii-like experience thanks to the tilt sensor in your iDevice.

No, you don’t get that white plastic shell of a steering wheel like how you got in Mario Kart Wii, but the fundamental idea is the same. In fact, Real Racing 2 for OS X is pretty much a port of the iOS version, except this way you get a bigger view of the track in front of you without it tilting on every turn. There’s a 16 car grid, 15 tracks, and 30 officially licensed cars. These include the 2010 Nissan GT-R R35, the 2012 McLaren MP4-12C, and the 2010 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500.

Yes, a $600 iPad is probably the most expensive game controller you’ve ever purchased, but Real Racing 2 could point toward more iOS/OSX crossover support from other developers too. Pick it up for $12.99.

Not a day goes by that we don’t hear about Apple suing this company or Apple suing that company, but now the Cupertino-based company is on the receiving end of the latest fatent infringment lawsuit and it has to do with the fast-booting operation in OS X. Apparently, the original patent belonged to LG Electronics, but it appears to be held currently by Operating Systems Solutions, LLC, a company based out of Florida. We’ve never heard of them and a quick Google search doesn’t seem to yield any more enlightening info on the firm.

In the OSS Patent RE40,092 Abstract, it basically describes a system wherein the computer checks to see if the current state of the OS has been saved to the hard disk, quick booting into that when available. The concept sounds basically like “hibernate” in Windows, as far as I can tell, but there may be some technicalities that set it apart.

In any case, OSS is going after Apple for this. Somehow, I have a burning suspicion this is just a hopeful cash grab, wishing that Apple will settle out of court for an undisclosed amount. After all, OSS says that it is simply “seeking damages.” The case was filed in Florida Middle District Court and Judge James S. Moody will be overseeing the proceedings.
