While the 7 inch tablets are becoming more popular these days due to affordability and being more portable, some prefer bigger real estate. If you are one among them maybe you should check out Toshiba’s three new ten-inch Android tablets: the low end Excite Pure (seen above), the Excite Pro, and the Excite Write.

The Excite Pure is not that exciting specs wise, but it’s also just $299.99. The slate is coming with 1280×800 display resolution and features the Tegra 3 SoC, 1GB of memory, and Android 4.2. There’s only a 16GB model, though MicroSD card expansion is available. You will also find a 3MP rear camera and a MicroHDMI port.

The Excite Pro’s display is 2560×1600, same as the Nexus 10 (16GB costs $399), and it’s coming equipped with NVIDIA Tegra 4, Android 4.2, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of standard storage (MicroSD is there), an 8 megapixel rear camera, MicroHDMI, and stereo speakers from Harmon Kardon. It will retail for $499.99, the price asked for the 16GB Xperia Tablet Z.

The Excite Write, as you can see above, will be available with a stylus, a 1024-point pressure sensitive one, which unfortunately does not dock into the slate’s housing. The device is coming with notation-focused apps and Gorilla Glass 2. The rest of the specs are similar to the Excite Pro. The Write will retail for $599.99, $100 more than the Note 10.1′s introductory MSRP.

The tablets will be available at U..S retailers and from Toshiba’s website next month. So, are you excited about any of these Excites? If you want, you can compare the new Excites with other 10 inchers out there by heading here.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is finally here, for real this time. The Note will be available globally starting this month and will come in three different versions: Wifi Only, WiFi plus HSPA+ and a WIFI Plus LTE version- though the third version won’t come until a little later down the road. What kind of power do you get with the Note 10.1? This beast is powered by a quad-core 1.4GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, an S Pen stylus, and a 1280×800 10.1-inch display. While the display isn’t that impressive, it still looks to be a rather capable tablet and has multiple storage options from 16-64GB, expansion of memory by microSD, 5MP rear camera, 1.9MB front camera, not to mention bluetooth 4.0 capability, USB 2.0 host capabilities, and a 7100mAh battery.

Outside of the hardware, what truly helps set the Note apart is the use of custom software and tweaks. The Note 10.1 features some of the same unique software that was also introduced with the Galaxy S3 such as the S Pen Experience (S Note, S Planner, My Story), Adobe Photoshop Touch, SamsungHubs and even a multiscreen mode that lets your run two different apps at once. The utility of the Note 10.1, thanks to great hardware and software, can’t be denied, but it’s nice to see that the Note 10.1 is as attractive as it is functional. Of course at least some of its popularity will likely come down to pricing, which has yet to be announced. If I were to take a guess at it, I’d wager somewhere around $400-$550 though.

What do you think of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1?

It seems that Samsung is once again preparing for a special “Unpacked” Event, this time in Berlin. While many companies choose to use major events like CES, IFA and MWC for their unveils, recently Samsung has done its own thing and anytime an Unpacked event is announced we know a major announcement is just around the corner. The latest Berlin Unpacked event will be held on August 29th at 19:00 GMT+2, and it sounds like the Galaxy Note 2 is going to be the focus of the show.

Samsung hasn’t officially talked about what products are going to make their way to the Berlin special event, but the presence of a stylus placed on the Unpacked long seems to hint that a device will show off with the support of a stylus accessory, which could mean a very different products, but much of the online techie world seems set on the idea that the Note 2 will be shown alongside the Note 10.1.

The Samsung Galaxy Note is one of the most popular products that Samsung has to offer with its unique “phablet” design, and so here’s to hoping that the Galaxy Note 2 does truly take the show. Besides the Note 2, what else would you like to possibly see at the Berlin Unpacked event?
