Last month, we caught word that Samsung could be the manufacturer behind the Google Nexus Two. Well, it turns out that could be only partly true. What we see here is supposedly the Google Nexus S.

As per earlier rumors, the second Nexus phone does indeed look like it is based on the increasingly popular Samsung Galaxy S platform. This comes via a leak on the Best Buy website (which has since been pulled), but the next “Google” phone has a model number of GT-I9020. For the record, the unbranded Galaxy S is the GT-I9000.

From what we can gather, the Nexus S will have a front-facing camera and Wi-Fi. The model that jumped through the FCC hoops was rocking T-Mobile’s AWS 3G bands, though I imagine an alternative will be made available to do it dance on AT&T (and Rogers) too. That is the path that Google end up tooking with the (HTC) Nexus One, after all.

Pricing is still up in the air, but reports are indicating that Best Buy could start selling the Google Nexus S as early as November 14. That’s this Sunday!

The Google Nexus One, sourced from HTC, has proven to be one of the most popular Android phones on the market. It is the official developer’s phone, after all. So, what can we expect from the hotly anticipated Google Nexus Two? For starters, the search engine giant is moving away from HTC. At least, that’s what the rumors are leading us to believe. For the Nexus Two, it seems that Google is partnering up with Samsung. This makes a lot of sense, considering the rising popularity of the Galaxy S platform, and the Nexus Two could be an evolved or even true second-gen take on the Galaxy S.

According to Gizmodo, the Samsung/Google Nexus Two will have a four-inch AMOLED screen, a black and shiny body, a curved and tapered back, and Android 3.0 Gingerbread. On the flip side, PCMag is saying that while Samsung is working on an unlocked Android phone, it’s not necessarily the Nexus Two.

Either way, it seems that Samsung is holding a press conference on November 8 and it’s on this day we think they’ll reveal the Nexus Two (or whatever it’s called). That happens to be the same day as the Windows Phone 7 launch. Coincidence? Maybe not, but it does look like a good day to be a smartphone fan.

It was widely heralded as the first real "Google Phone" and now it will soon be laid out to pasture. If you were hoping to get your hands on the Google Nexus One smartphone, I highly suggest you do it very soon, because Google has placed its final order with HTC for the device. After stock from this shipment is depleted Google will no longer be selling the Nexus One through its official online store. Nada. No more. Kaput. You have plenty of other options in the Android realm, like the HTC Droid Incredible, but the Nexus One holds a special place in cell phone history.

The post Google to stop selling the Nexus One appeared first on Mobile Magazine.

It was widely heralded as the first real “Google Phone” and now it will soon be laid out to pasture.

That’s the bad news, but there are two smaller tidbits of good news. First, Google will continue to offer support through its customer service lines. So, if you already have one of these devices in hand, you can still get help when you need it. Second, Google is looking for a way to continue selling the Nexus One through a sales partner, but these sales will be restricted to registered app developers.

I guess you go out and buy just about any other Google Android device offered through your carrier of choice, but those oftentimes contain some carrier-specific doo-dahs. The Nexus One is, as far as we can tell, the only true clean-slate and completely unlocked Android that you can get on a very official basis. Are we to expect the Google Nexus Two?
