A wireless network at home is great and all, but what if you need to connect something that only offers a wired connection to that network? For that, you’ll want to invest in a wireless media bridge like the TRENDnet TEW-640MB. This is a pretty great device and it happens to be on sale for 57% off.

The TRENDnet TEW-640MB is a 300Mbps wireless-N 4-port media bridge. What this means is that it connects to your existing wireless network, using one-touch Wi-Fi protected setup (WPS), and then it provides four Ethernet ports so that you can link up wired devices like your network-enabled TV, game console, or Blu-ray player. Even though several “smart” TVs have Wi-Fi now, many don’t.

I imagine that the most common use for the media bridge is for exactly that: media. And that’s why TRENDnet has also included WMM Quality of Service (QoS) technology that prioritizes video and audio content. If you want to stream those videos from Netflix or YouTube, you should be able to keep up without buffering or lag, assuming your Internet connection holds up. You can even stream from your own computer at the other end of the house, thanks to the 300Mbps wireless-N connection. That should definitely be fast enough.

It helps that this is pretty attractive too with its glossy black finish and vertical design. Slip it next to your home theater setup and it’ll fit right in. The TRENDnet TEW-640MB wireless 4-port media bridge is on sale for $38.77, down from the list price of $89.99. That’s $51.22 in savings and includes free shipping too.

Working as either a wireless bridge or as an access point, the D-Link DAP-1533 Wireless-N450 MediaBridge does everything that its name implies. It offers wireless speeds of up to 450Mbps through the 802.11n Wi-Fi standard. You get selectable dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz), 4 gigabit Ethernet ports, and USB 2.0 with SharePort Plus.

When you use it under Wireless Bridge Mode, you are able to take advantage of those four gigabit Ethernet ports to provide your devices with access to your existing wireless network, giving thems super fast speeds. That’s great for game consoles and streaming media boxes, for example. Alternatively, you can use it like a regular router and connect it to your existing wired network to extend it wirelessly.

The regular price is about $200, but Amazon has it on sale for $111.99, which represents a 44% off savings. That includes the free Super Saving Shipping too!

You’ve got something on your table-sized Windows 7 multitouch platform and you want to send it to your friend with his Android smartphone. He, then, in turn wants to share that multimedia content with his colleague on his Apple iPad. There has to be an easy way to do this and to collaborate on this content too.

I suppose that’s where Konnectus is supposed to come into the picture. Developed by Sensus, this cloud-computer software platform is supposed to provide an “easy and intuitive” way to network across a range of devices, including computers, tablets, and phones. If you check out the video, stuff is being “swiped” from one device to the next.

Naturally, people will have to make use of the APIs to get Konnectus on the respective operating platforms, but this looks like it could come in really handy in this increasingly disjointed mobile ecosystem. More info is expected to come out eventually, but the KonnectUs platform should launch this summer.

Depending on what you need at the time, you just click that collar around until you hit your desired configuration. Network admins and IT guys in office buildings might like to have it in their tech bags; clearing clutter and removing redundancy are good things.
TechVibes brings up a very interesting point about some of the applications on various smartphone platforms. On the RIM front, you have exclusive access to the BlackBerry Messenger. On the iPhone 4, you have FaceTime. Where does that leave Google’s Android?

I think Android has a lot of potential to grow even further that what we are seeing today, but there isn’t much in terms of a “killer” messaging apps that are exclusive to it. TV makes mention of GTalk, but you can get IM clients on BlackBerry and iOS devices to access that messaging utility. Another suggestion put forward is Google Latitude, but the same holds true there too. It’s not exclusive to Android and, as such, it can’t really be thought of as the killer messaging app for the platform. Twitter, Facebook, and other networks can be accessed on just about any platform.

Realistically, though, does it really matter? Does Android really need to have its own separate IM client exclusive of the other platforms? Isn’t the whole “I can chat with anyone regardless of what device they have” part of the appeal in the first place?
