Motorola has confirmed that their Moto X Android smartphone will arrive in October. They have also revealed their intentions to introduce electronic tattoos and vitamin pills.

The post Motorola Moto X Smartphone Coming In October appeared first on Mobile Magazine.

There have been rumors about Motorola’s upcoming smartphone which will go against the iPhone and Galaxy devices, and now Dennis Woodside and Regina Dugan have confirmed the existence of the device at the AllThingsD D11 Conference.

Woodside decided to bring the flagship in his pocket but didn’t show it to anyone at the event. It would have been nice if we got a peek at the device, but we will probably be able to do that via a leak sometime soon.

He said, “We have a hero device that’s coming out that’s going to be called Moto X”. The device, which will arrive in October, is coming with sensors which will make the device ‘contextually aware’. It will know what the user is doing with it and can adjust itself for it. And the handset will be built in the US, with processors coming from Taiwan and OLED screens from Korea. The price of the device could be a tad higher than other high end smartphones due to the Made in USA tag.

And also talked about were electronic tattoos and vitamin pills. Those are not for some high tech patient but for the users of future Motorola smartphones.

According to Dugan, “There’s so much information on your smartphone that makes you so much more vulnerable to identity theft now. After 40 years of computing we’re still authenticating the same way”. Motorola’s tattoo (with an antenna and circuits) and pill (with a chip powered by the stomach’s acids) will make the phone’s owner an authentication token or password.

Apple is likely to introduce finger print tech in future iDevices. It’s good to see that Motorola is thinking about new stuff rather than trying to copy though it seems to be a bit too much of authentication. What do you think?

If you keep up with the Android rumor mill, you’ve probably heard at least a little about the Motorola X Phone. While the phone itself has yet to be confirmed, rumors continue to suggest Motorola and Google are preparing a game-changing handset. Now it seems that the game might not be changing early this summer as previously believed.

According to sources reporting to Phone Arena, the development of the X Phone is a bit behind and thus shipping has been pushed back to August “or later”.

There is no official word on why the release date is being pushed back, but it is very possible that Google just hasn’t been satisfied with what Motorola has demonstrated with the X Phone so far. Bottom-line is that it is becoming less and less likely that the X Phone will surface at the Google I/O.

Although everything we know about the X Phone is based on rumor, speculation and unnamed sources, we at least ‘believe’ that the phone will eventually arrive with a 4.7-inch 1080p display with a very thin bezel. We also believe it will run a version of Android 4.2 that won’t be pure stock, though it will likely be pretty close.

Other rumors about the X Phone suggest it will be the smartphone equivalent of Dell’s PCs, in that you can choose a base and then add extra custom order specs such as more RAM, storage and other options like a faster processor.

Are you interested in the idea of a Motorola X Phone or do you refuse to get excited about it until we actually receive concrete evidence of the phone’s existence?

Cell phones may have become an integral part of everyday life today, but that of course wasn’t always the case. What boggles the mind is that it has already been a full four decades since the first mobile phone call was made, placed by Motorola employee Marty Cooper. This was on April 3, 1973.

He picked up a prototype version of the Motorola DynaTAC and he called up the folks at Bell Labs, which was a division of AT&T at the time. Apparently, he just said, “I’m ringing you just to see if my call sounds good at your end.” It must have sounded good enough, because that prototype was developed into the Motorola DynaTAC 8000x.

The nearly $4,000 phone weighed 2.5 pounds and had a single text-only LED display line. It went on to spawn a whole generation of cell phone users, from the “Zack Morris” of Saved by the Bell fame to the DynaTAC used by Gordon Gekko in Wall Street. I remember when my parents got their first cell phone in the early 1990s. Even then, there was a certain air of exclusivity to having a mobile phone.

What is your earliest cell phone memory? Were you around when Marty Cooper made that historic phone call?

But you would be wrong.

According to a recent survey, Apple’s iPhone 5 comes fifth in customer satisfaction ratings, with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 coming in in 4th place (the S3 isn’t even in the top 5!), while Motorola took 1st and 2nd places.

The phone which managed to please most U.S phone owners is the Motorola Atrix HD, A phone which is currently available on AT&T at just $49. Across the pond in the UK the HTC One reached the top spot with Apple coming in second, and the last 3 places all going to Samsung phone.

Does it surprise you that the iPhone or Samsung phones aren’t at the top of the smartphone sanctification list?

While it doesn’t sound like the supposed “Project X” phone from Motorola is going to be Google’s next Nexus device, Google and Motorola have been working together on this new smartphone and now some more details are being leaked. The expectation is that Google will be unveiling Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie to the world on May 15 and it could be making its debut with this so-called Motorola X Phone.

The name might change, of course, but it seems that an unnamed source has gotten his hands on an early prototype of the device.

Google and Motorola have been working closely to address two primary concerns: battery life and durability. That sounds right up the alley of the recent Motorola DROID RAZR HD and its DROID RAZR HD MAXX counterpart.

They’re handling battery life with a bigger battery, probably in the same range as the 3300mAh unit found in the MAXX, and they’re handling the durability thing with the Kevlar back we already see on the RAZR HD and MAXX. So, what’s so special here?

Even though the MAXX has a large battery, there are some software and hardware things that make the battery drain faster. They’ve apparently optimized this, as they were able to get through “several road trip hours on a [single] charge with the GPS software constantly on, which usually is an activity that kills your juicer in no time.”

It sounds like they’re sticking with a 4.8-inch screen, but they’re getting bumped to a quad core processor, up to 128GB of storage, microSD, and a much better Sony Exmor RS camera, the last of which will be a significant improvement for Motorola. And, of course, this phone will likely get Key Lime Pie and who knows what secret sauce Google has baking for that Android upgrade? It may not be a Nexus, but this version of KLP is likely to be vanilla or very close to vanilla too.

A lot can change in the next three months, but things are looking up for Project X. What do you think, interested in the Motorola X Phone or not?

When it comes to the world of Bluetooth headsets, Motorolas are among some of the best. Two such headsets are now on sale, giving you a great price on your choice of the Motorola Oasis or the Motorola H17txt.

Normally selling for $79.99, the Motorola Oasis is on sale for $44.86. This uniquely shaped Bluetooth headset has an extended boom with dual microphones, which is meant to provide better noice cancellation. There are audible prompts for when you are connected, as well as to tell you the phone is ringing and to provide you with the current battery level. Interestingly, it’s also possible to connect to two different phones at the same time, which is great for people who have both a business and a personal phone.

Alternatively, you can pick up the Motorola H17txt for $29.99, which is an impressive 70% off the regular retail price of $99.99. The “txt” part of the name indicates that this Motorola Bluetooth headset will read your text messages to you, including the name of the sender. It comes with multiple ear hooks for a customized fit and it features CrystalTalk dual mic technology to cancel background noise.

If you own a newer Motorola smartphone, chances are you have or will be getting in on the Jelly Bean action. Motorola had recently promised to offer more timely updates for its devices, and seems to be keeping true to their word.

Lack of updates has been an obvious deficiency for Motorola in the past, but following through with their promise, RAZR M and RAZR/ MAXXHD users recently received a Jelly Bean update.

Now it appears that the Atrix HD will soon follow suit. Motorola’s Android 4.1 update comes with many improvements to include, the speed improving Project Butter, enhanced notifications and Google Now. Motorola is also adding to the mix Quick Settings, Drive Smart and more.

If you own a Motorola device, click on Software Updates in the Settings > About Phone section and see if an update has dropped for you!

You don’t have to wait until Black Friday to get the best deal on a new smartphone. In fact, you can get the DROID RAZR MAXX 4G for just $50, which is a significant savings from the regular price of $749.00.

Not surprisingly, the RAZR MAXX 4G can only be had for the $49.99 asking price if you sign up for a qualifying two-year service agreement with Verizon Wireless. As far as specs, you get a 4.3-inch AMOLED display, 4G LTE capabilities, dual core 1.2GHz processor, and a massive 3300mAh battery that they say will provide up to 21 hours of talk time and up to 380 hours of standby.

Other key features include the 8MP camera with 1080p video, Bluetooth stereo music, 16GB storage, microSD expansion slot, front-facing camera, GPS, and MOTOPRINT for wireless printing to any postscript printer via Wi-Fi. And yes, it’s compatible with the Lapdock 100 for a 10.1-inch netbook-esque experience too, but that’s an optional additional purchase.

You can get the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX 4G on Amazon for $49.99. If you want to go a little bigger, they also have the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD for $199.99 on contract, giving you a 4.7-inch 720p display and Android 4.0 ICS.

It’s a law pretty much everywhere now that you’re not allowed to talk on your cell phone while driving, but most places allow you to use a handsfree headset. If you’re looking for a great Bluetooth headset at a great price, you might want to check out the Motorola H17txt with MotoSpeak. It’s on sale for 60% off.

The Motorola H17txt Bluetooth Headset comes with multiple ear loops, hooks and cushions for different wearing styles, so you should be able to find one that is most comfortable for you. It also comes with CrystalTalk Dual Microphone Technology that will suppress background noise and echo so that both members of the conversation can hear each other more clearly. This headset can also be used for streaming media and it has voice prompts to audibly tell you about battery level, mute status, and how to connect.

One of the more unique features is called MotoSpeak. When you pair it with your phone, the H17txt can read you your text messages so you don’t have to look at the screen. The text to speech system even understands 150 text acronyms like LOL, BTW and THX. You just need to get the free MotoSpeak app from the appropriate app store.

Regularly retailing for $99.99, the Motorola H17txt is on sale now for $40.78 on Amazon.com, representing a savings of $59.21. It also qualifies for free shipping!
