Have a Raspberry Pi? Love Minecraft? If so, you are going to be happy to know that Minecraft: Pi Edition is now available for free from pi.minecraft.net. Why is it free for Pi when elsewhere it is paid? Mojang says they see it as a way of getting more folks interested in the hobbyist/programming board.

Although you have probably heard of the Raspberry Pi before – especially if you frequent our site – we will refresh your memory: the Raspberry Pi is an awesome credit-card sized PC that easily hooks up to your PC and is pretty open for programming, modding and anything you want to through at it.

Sure with its low-end processor and paltry amount of RAM (256MB for older versions, 512MB for model B) it isn’t a super-device, but it also generally comes in at under $40 so it is really pretty hard to complain. Check out the video below to get a better idea of what this “programming friendly” version of Minecraft is all about.

Mojang has rolled out an update for the game’s mobile version. Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.2.0 is coming with a host of new features that will make it a lot more exciting.

For the first time ever, you will be able to play Survival mode on mobile devices. The update adds new blocks such as doors, fences, and gates, and tools for various purposes including digging, attacking and shearing.

There will be a bit more violence (which is always fun as long as it’s just in the game, right?) via the introduction of mobs. The first creatures to arrive are sheep and zombies, and you can expect more for the future. You can flee to safety or fight the zombies and hunting for food is also there.

There will also be day and night in Survival mode with the monsters coming at night, and you can also gather resources from nature. But those who want to stick to the Creative mode also have something to cheer about. You will now be able to fly.

The update for Android devices is currently available for download at Android Market. It’s free if you bought the game earlier, otherwise you will have to shell out $6.99. But you can always check out the demo version if you are willing to sacrifice a few things. As for the iOS version, the update is ready to go too but is awaiting the green light from Apple.

For all of you who have at least once imagined how a perfect world would look if you built it, Minecraft is now available for all Android devices.

Since its release in 2009, the game has taken the world by surprise although it’s still in development. Players pay to play the beta version of the game that transports you in a world where you can build everything to your heart’s desire.

The game was released for the Sony Ericsson XPeria Play smartphone in August and now has finally been released for all Android phones. The price you have to pay to make your own world is $6.69 on the Android Market. In case you want to try it out first, you can also get a free trial. You can experience the game for a while, but you can’t save your sessions, which could get frustrating.

You can buy the game on Android Market and it’s received wonderful reviews so far as well as a 4.5 rating out of 5.

Today Sony Ericsson announced that they’re going to deliver more than 20 new games to the Xperia PLAY, including 10 exclusive titles optimized for the device itself which everyone else without the Xperia can gawk over. The new games will add to the more than 60 titles already available for Xperia PLAY, which of course will be showcased at the E3 games expo from June 7-9. The latest build of Android powers the first ever PlayStation smartphone. Xperia PLAY is currently available on the Verizon Wireless Network in the US and on Rogers in Canada.

The new titles will include massive multi-player online titles (MMO) like Pocket Legends, the world’s largest mobile 3D MMO, and the soon to be launched sci-fi MMO, Star Legends, which is also from Spacetime Studios. Sony Ericsson revealed that Minecraft, the indie PC game from Swedish developer Mojang, will go mobile on the Xperia Play. One of the most popular indie PC games of all time, Minecraft involves building constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D world.

“As Xperia™ PLAY becomes available to Verizon Wireless customers in the U.S., the portfolio of great games continues to grow and we are delighted to announce 20 new games optimized for Xperia PLAY,” said Steve Walker, Head of Marketing at Sony Ericsson. “By building on the open Android ecosystem, we’re providing a brilliant opportunity for developers and game publishers to bring their best titles to new audiences and fantastic new experiences for Xperia PLAY owners. Keep watching this space.”

Sony Ericsson also confirmed that new games from their stable of classic PlayStation 1 titles will be coming to Xperia PLAY shortly. Sony Ericsson will also be supporting new developers with an initiative called “stand out from the crowd” that draws in developers who are struggling to find an audience in the sea of thousands of apps to develop a game for Xperia PLAY.
The new games announced today will be released in the coming months. We’ll keep you posted.
