We have heard a lot of rumors about Sprint’s version of the HTC One X, and many believe that the handset will be announced by HTC and the carrier at the event scheduled for April 4th. Well, now it appears like that is exactly what’s going to happen. According to a new rumor, which comes to us via Android Central and if their anonymous insider is right, the One X will be released on the Sprint LTE network on June 6th as the HTC EVO ONE.

The rumor suggests that the device will arrive with the following specs:

4.7 inch, 720p AMOLED screen

1.5 dual-core Krait processor

2650mah non-removal battery

16GB internal memory

microSD card slot

Android 4.0 with 4.0 sense

8-megapixel camera with 2.0 front-facing camera

LTE

Beats by Dre audio

The handset is also said to be black and red in color and come with a kickstand. But since the device has a microSD card slot, larger battery and support for LTE, we don’t think it’s going to be very thin. That suggestion does not make sense.

But, as you might know, Sprint markets high-end HTC phones as EVO devices, and they also released the original EVO and EVO 3D in June. The timing makes sense, but we won’t have to wait too long to know if it does happen next week.

No typo here, the $79 Ainol Novo 7 Paladin is a camera-less tablet, but yes indeed, it runs Ice Cream Sandwich. This tablet is a variation of the world’ s first ICS Android 4.0 tablet, the Ainol Novo 7 Basic we spotted last year. Ainol’s Novo 7 Paladin is certainly powered by a MIPS chip, and if it has the same internals as that Basic (minus cameras), then it might be MIPS32-based Xburst JZ4770 SoC by Beijing Ingenic Semiconductor company. Knight Paladin mentioned there might be dual cameras still.

In short, this simple Paladin sports the same 800×480 non-IPS 7 inch capacitive screen, 512 MB of RAM, a miniUSB port, headphone jack, reset pinhole, volume rocker, microSD card slot, single tiny speaker on the back, and couple of additional “hardware” buttons that were banned from Android designs since Honeycomb.

This runs Android 4.0.1 on top of Linux kernel 3.0.8, a big step up from what Tegra 3 ICS tablets run on; 2.6.36 or so. “Basic” was quoted as being priced at $99, which explains their $79 “Paladin” price by missing optics.

Tamaggo Inc., a consumer technology company based in Montreal, Canada, has previewed what will be the first consumer picture-taking device with fully integrated, built-in panomorph technology that lets users capture 360° high-resolution, navigable images with just one click.

What this egg-shaped gizmo can do to your 360° world is create stunning panoramas much better morphed than, say, your ordinary StreetView imaging. You need to go to Tamaggo to experience it.

Tamagoo is also not your ordinary rotating Web cam on Googlemobile. Its specs are quite spectacular, too:

Tamaggo Founder and President Jean-Claude Artonne, calls the products of Tamaggo action as Tamaggraphs and tells “that the Tamaggo can freeze the action taking place within the entire 360°-imaging environment, unlike a standard stitching solution that needs multiple snapshots taken over a few seconds, such as required by Microsoft Photosynth and other stitching applications.”

Artonne, also the author of many imaging patents, noted that Tamaggraphs can be taken from distances between 0 (zero) and infinity, no focus required. He also noted that the Tamaggo captures images in four automatic orientations: Sky 360°, Ground 360°, horizontal panoramic and vertical panoramic.

The Tamaggo 360-imager is a 2012 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards honoree in the digital imaging category.

Acer America has just announced that the Acer Iconia Tab A200 will go on sale in the US on January 15th. The Android 3.2 slate features a dual-core Tegra 2 processor, a 1280 x 800 10.1-inch display, and 8 GB and 16 GB storage options. Tablet with 8 GB of storage will retail at $329.99, while the 16 GB variant is priced at $349.99. Tablet sports 2MP front-facing camera, microSD slot for expanded storage, and a full-sized USB 2.0 port. For those obsessed with the latest and greatest, an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade is scheduled for delivery in February.

It’s quite unclear how this new installment from Acer to its Iconia lineup will fare against the very popular ASUS Eee Pad Transformer (non-Prime, a TF101 model. Similarly specced slate from ASUS adds a rear 5 megapixel camera and its quite successful “transformer” docking keyboard, but even without keyboard ASUS slate can be had for $360…$380 if you care to shop around.

So I doubt that a price difference between Acer’s $349.99 (or even $329.99 for a model with lesser storage) and ASUS first Transformer may turn the chances to win customers in Acer’s favor. All in all, “legacy” Tegra 2 tablets are on their way out and may soon show in sub-$300 price category. Then, releasing a tablet with Android 3.2 this late in January is not a very good sign when every tablet device worth north of $300 is expected to run Ice Cream Sandwich.

Acer has also a history of releasing its Iconias with locked bootloaders, and nobody knows what this A200 Tab would come out with on January 15th. ASUS, in its turn, seems to listen to their customers and promises Ice Cream Sandwich and bootloader unlocking tool at least for its flagship Transformer Prime slate.

HTC is now delivering on its promise to bring Honeycomb to the Flyer. The HTC Flyer was first released in April 2011 with Google Android 2.3.3. The Android 3.2 Honeycomb update is currently rolling out to those devices anxiously awaiting the upgrade. The update for WiFi models has begun, with 3G users getting the update early December. Some users have stated they have noticed more responsiveness and the frustrating wallpaper lag appears to be gone. However, it remains to be seen how much lag will be eliminated when using a stylus for notes and doodles on this interesting tablet. Then, Ice Cream Sandwich on other tablets pops up left and right, even if more in promises than real firmware builds.

Hopefully this is just the first update for the Flyer this year. It hasn’t been announced, but we can always hope the Flyer will receive an additional update to Ice Cream Sandwich later this year. Sure, after the first official Ice Cream Sandwich tablet Ainol Novo Basic was released in China last December, there can be little doubt that WiFi only HTC Flyer with its quite powerful hardware won’t be capable to run Ice Cream Sandwich.

We have the right device for those of you who have a thing for tiny MP3 players. The music player pictured above, the Kube2 from Singapore technology company Bluetree Electronics, is not as thin as the latest generation iPod shuffles, but it’s being claimed by the makers as the “world’s smallest touch mp3 player”.

The Kube2 MP3 player, which is the successor to the company’s “Kube” released two years ago, measures in at 1″ x 1″ x 1″ and comes equipped with a touch sensor for navigating through the screen and menu.

The sensor will allow your finger to do the talking. Just a quick swipe with your thumb along the faceplate and the player switches to the previous or next track. You just have to place a finger at the top or bottom of the player to raise or lower the volume respectively. And the proper diagonal movements pauses playback or gives you the shuffle mode.

Unlike the first generation device which was made out of plastic, the Kube2 features an aluminum body. You will also get to play with a range of removable stickers for customizing the look of your device.

Its lithium-polymer battery provides six hours of continuous play and it can be fully charged via USB in an hour.

The microSD card slot supports cards of up to 32GB, which should allow you to store about 8000 songs. But the 4GB card (around 1,000 songs) that is available in the package might just be enough.

The kube2 comes with a price tag of approximately $35 and is currently only available in Singapore. It will be shown off at CES 2012 in January prior to its release worldwide.

We use a lot more microSD cards today than we did just a few years ago. They’re showing up as the memory expansion card of choice for smartphones, tablets, and even some slim laptops and digital cameras. So, it only makes sense that we want more speed and more space on these thumbnail-sized cards. Samsung aims to deliver.

They’ve just announced a new class 10 microSD card that is being aimed squarely on the smartphone market. Remember that we’re using these smartphones, like those powered by Nvidia Tegra2, to watch high definition video and other demanding multimedia content. A slow card just doesn’t cut the mustard anymore.

Samsung isn’t the first to do the class 10 thing with microSD cards, though, since Kingston already beat the Korean megagiant to the punch. Even so, Samsung is happy to announce that the 32GB card will read at up to 24MB/s and write at up to 12MB/s. The read speed easily beats the minimum 10MB/s needed for class 10 certification.

The 32GB will be the first offering and, considering that Kingston’s equivalent sells for about $80, I’d imagine Samsung’s will be similar. A 64GB class 10 microSD is being planned for early next year too.

The Apple iPad is a pretty great device, but it’s anything but perfect. It’s missing a few critical ports that you would like to see on a portable device like that, but the official expansion kits from Apple can be kind of expensive. Enter the 3-in-1 adapter dongle from MIC Gadget.

It may look largely like the $30 iPad Camera Connection Kit from Apple, but it goes beyond that. Instead of just connecting to your digital camera, the 3-in-1 adapter (as its cleverly descriptive name implies) has three slots. After plugging it into the dock connector on your iPad, you are offered access to a USB port for your camera, an SD slot, and a microSD slot.

The USB port can also be used for other accessories, like external keyboards and USB flash drives. It’s hard to tell if this device works quite as perfectly as the Apple-branded alternative, but I imagine that it would. The added convenience is that you have a single adapter, albeit a slightly larger one, rather than two separate ones. And the microSD slot is an added bonus.

The kicker, unfortunately, isn’t a good kicker. You usually get a bit of a discount when you go with an off-brand like MIC Gadget, but this 3-in-1 dongle retails for the same $30 that the official Apple iPad Camera Connectio Kit does. If they just knocked it down to maybe $20, it’s be an easier sell. It also doesn’t help that this won’t ship until after the holidays too. By that time, we might be seeing the new iPad 2 with an integrated SD slot.

The Google Nexus S smartphone is all official with its Gingerbread-fueled sweetness, but there is at least one element missing from its otherwise intelligent frame: expandable memory. Much like the iPhone, the Google Nexus S lacks in the microSD slot department.

By and large, early reviews of the device have been overwhelmingly positive. People like the contour display. People enjoy the vanilla build of Android loaded on the phone, unfettered with custom UIs and brand-specific skins. The Hummingbird processor sings and the svelte lines make for a nice look too. But it can’t take microSD cards.

Granted that the phone already has 16GB of internal memory, which should be more than enough to handle your various apps and documents, but a microSD expansion slot has become pretty much a standard feature on all Android phones. Not everyone will use them, but the expandable memory can be huge for those who do. What if you want to load up your phone with some music and videos? You’ll run out of space pretty quickly with just 16GB in tow.

For me, it’s not really a deal breaker, but it is a noteworthy blow. Why would they take out the memory card slot when it’s already there in all the Galaxy S phones from Samsung?

I have an 8GB microSD card myself, but now I really want to get the first 32GB microSD memory cards from Samsung.

The Korean manufacturer has bumped the bar up to another level for the fingernail-sized format, but these aren’t quite ready to hit the market just yet. Samsung is saying that they are “working” on 32GB memory cards, doubling the highest tier that is currently available at 16GB.

This also represents the final step for the microSDHC format before manufacturers will need to move on to the microSDXC format. For that format, we can expect to see memory cards range from 32GB to 2TB in capacity. Yes, two freaking terabytes. Naturally, that milestone is probably still some time away.

According to Intomobile, the first 32GB microSDHC memory cards should be “commercially available after mass production kicks in around February.” You’ll likely need a firmware update of some kind to accept the higher capacity, as was the case with many of the other capacities along the way.
