That QWERTY keyboard will be a welcome feature for all the texters in the audience. Other specs include an HTML browser, microSD slot for up to 16GB of storage, and a 3.2 megapixel camera. Verizon is adding in quick access to social networking services, as well as the VZ Navigator for turn-by-turn directions.

Expect the Samsung u820 Reality to arrive at Verizon on April 22. They’ll want $79.99 for it, so long as you sign a new two-year contract and handle the $50 mail-in rebate.

You don't see too many Pantech phones around these parts anymore, but the Korean electronics maker is still around and it's got a new handset for all the budget-minded texters in the audience. It has just been announced that the Pantech Link will be heading to AT&T and it's going to be a bargain.
While its outward appearance may lead you to believe that it's a smartphone of some kind, the Pantech Link is probably better classified as a feature or messaging phone. There's a full QWERTY keyboard on this "quick messaging phone" and it measures under 10mm in thickness.

They say that it is the “slimmest way to stay connected to your social life.” Somehow, I don’t think the slimness in that statement is supposed to refer to its features. Rounding out those features is a 1.3MP camera, music player, 3G connectivity, and mobile web access. The Pantech Link sells for a paltry $9.99 when accompanied with a two-year contract and rebate.

Continuing with this trend is the Samsung Corby Pro.

If you didn't know any better, you'd swear that the new Samsung Corby Pro is a smartphone. But it's not. It's just a phone with a touchscreen display and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. What makes it "pro" is still unknown, but it could be the multitasking aspect, call it a slap in the face to Apple but a $70 phone allowing you to run multiple applications has gotta tell you something. If the iPhone 4G does not support multitasking, many iPhone owners may switch to the Corby Pro.. er not.

The post Rogers slides out Samsung Corby Pro for $70, does multitasking appeared first on Mobile Magazine.

Continuing with this trend is the Samsung Corby Pro.

If you didn’t know any better, you’d swear that the new Samsung Corby Pro (SGH-B5310) is a smartphone. But it’s not. It’s just a phone with a touchscreen display and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. What makes it “pro” is still unknown, but it could be the multitasking aspect, call it a slap in the face to Apple, but a $70 phone allowing you to run multiple applications has gotta tell you something. If the iPhone 4G does not support multitasking many iPhone owners may switch to the Corby Pro.. er not.

In fact, the “target market” for the device includes “customers looking for smartphone-like features without having to subscribe to a data plan.” From what I understand, since it’s not a smartphone, the Corby Pro can use that cheaper “unlimited mobile browsing” option from Rogers.

Going through the specs, you find an FM Radio, 2.8″ QVGA touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard, Samsung TouchWiz UI, interchangeable panel jackets, WiFi, 3.0 megapixel camera, microSD slot, and stereo Bluetooth. It’s set up to work with Facebook Twitter, and MySpace too.

Available starting today, the Samsung Corby Pro can be had for $69.99 with a new three-year contract with Rogers Wireless. Go for a two-year and it’s $119.99, opt for a one-year and its $219.99. Go without a contract and the Corby Pro will put you back $274.99.

The Samsung B3310 may not look like aything particularly special, since it jumps into the same messaging phone niche that is getting popularized by tons of other handsets, but it does come with one very unique design cue. It does the slide-out QWERTY thing, but it’s also got a single-row numeric keypad too.

As you can see from the image provided, the QWERTY keyboard slides out of the side for when you want to fire out an email or text message. That’s pretty normal these days. The vertical numeric keypad is quite different, though, since you can access it in both portrait and landscape mode. It does make for an assymetical design though.

The rest of the specs are pretty mediocre at best. There is a QVGA display, 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.1, quad-band EDGE, and a microSD expansion slot. I’d imagine that it’ll hit the lower end of the pricing scale.

For now, no announcement has been made regarding carriers and release dates, but the assumption is that it’ll be a Euro-centric launch for the time being. The “last best guess” has the Samsung B3310 hitting retail shelves in the middle of next month.

Some people want access to a full QWERTY keyboard for messaging purposes, but they don’t want to deal with the increased complexities of a true smartphone. T-Mobile seems to recognize this phenomenon, seeing how we’ve seen the Sidekick devices for years. Well, they’re expanding this concept with the pending launch of the Samsung Comeback.

On the surface, the Samsung Comeback looks a lot like its Sidekick stablemates, except it acts as a landscape-oriented flip phone rather than using the swivel action you found on the Sidekick. You could say that it is more in line with the LG enV line from Verizon.

The spec sheet has been leaked for this messaging-centric handset and obviously the biggest highlight is that full QWERTY keyboard. Based on the pictures, I think it could also be a double-flip phone like a couple of other Samsung phones before it.

Running through the rest of the features, we discover a 2 megapixel camera with video, microSDHC expansion slot, integrated email and IM clients, Bluetooth, 75MB of internal memory, 1700MHz 3G connectivity, and dual displays.

Look for the Samsung Comeback to launch as early as tomorrow. There’s no mention of price just yet, but I’m guessing that T-Mobile will keep it south of $100 with a two-year service agreement.
