For people in my income bracket, owning a yacht at all is pretty far out there. But when all of your peers are multimillionaires, it almost becomes a necessity and it constantly becomes a game of who’s got the bigger boat. Venture capitalist Tom Perkins is among the top, cruising around the world in his Maltese Falcon luxury sailing yacht. It’s fast, it’s luxurious, it’s techie… and it’s expensive.

Worth about $130 million, the Maltese Falcon measures an impressive 289 feet long and 40 feet wide. It has fifteen sails across its three masts, soaring as high as 20 stories above the deck. The speedy devil can reach up to 18 knots, crossing the Atlantic Ocean in just ten days.

Speed is one thing, but when you’re rich, you want to be comfortable too. There’s no shortage of plasma TVs and yacht-wide WiFi connectivity, of course, as well plenty of high-end finishes. It can accommodate up to 12 guests at a time quite comfortably with its five lower deck staterooms and one VIP cabin on the upper deck. Need to get ashore (or bail)? There are two 32 foot RIB tenders, four laser sailing boats, and one 14 foot Castold jet tender.

This third largest sailing yacht in the world also comes with the Falcon Rig, a DynaRig sailing system that can adjust those masts with the push of a button. Who has time to actually push masts and things around when you’re sipping on champagne and snacking on caviar?

Who said that traveling the country in a recreational vehicle meant that you had to do away with the creature comforts of the country club? Certainly not the folks at Marchi Mobile, as they have just announced a new line of ultra-luxurious RVs called eleMMent. And they come in three main styles.

All of these are “partially based on a 2001 design by Luigi Colani,” and they are built upon the DAF XF 105 truck chassis. The otuward styling is already going to turn a few heads, thanks to its vast height, massive size, and unique oval-shaped windshield. They say that it’s “truly sportive” with its aerodynamics and 530hp turbo diesel engine, but it’s the inside that screams luxury.

The eleMMent Palazzo is a mobile home that’s meant to mimic the indulgences of a luxury mansion. You get a master bedroom, a full kitchen, plenty of high-end finishes, and touchscreen controls for setting up the various features. The more business-oriented may like the eleMMent Viva instead with its massage armchairs and conference room-like configuration. And finally, the eleMMent Visione is meant to be a promotional showroom on wheels, complete with up to 430 square feet of showcase space and plenty of flat panel TVs.

Personally, I think it’s kinda ugly (the front end looks like they plopped a giant RV on top of a squished sports car), but it’s not like I’d complain if this is how I had to travel from point A to point B.

Yup. We all come to that point in our lives where we have more money than we know what to do with. We can’t decide if we want a fine German luxury sedan to drive up to the country club or if we want to take out an exclusive cell phone that costs just as much money and only does half as much. If you find yourself in the latter camp, you’ll want the Ulysse Nardin Chairman.

All kidding aside, this is the world’s most expensive Google Android smartphone and, get this, it’s actually fully operational. You have to appreciate some of the Steampunk-esque elements like the mechanical watch rotor, because you can actually wind up your phone to give it a little more juice on the go. Or you can get your live-in maid to do that for you.

So, what does $50,000 buy you? There’s 32GB of memory, a 3.2-inch touchscreen, biometric fingerprint reader, 8MP camera, and the knowledge that you have the most expensive Android phone in the world… until someone decides to deface it with Swarovski crystals. For an extra five grand a year, you can sign up for a special Ulysse Nardin program to have the Chairman polished twice a year. They’ll upgrade you to Ice Cream when that’s available too.

The name of the designer might not ring a bell (it didn’t for me), but this is the same guy who created the Jawbone Bluetooth headset for Aliph. As far as headsets go, that’s one of the best looking. The +YvesBehar phone, though, is of a different league altogether. If you opt for the gold version, it’s going to sell for 42,000 Euro ($58,740)… about the same you’d pay for a pretty nice luxury car.

Partly following in the footsteps of Vertu and Gresso, the +YvesBehar phone (yes, the pretentious use of a + symbol is really a part of the official name) doesn’t really do anything special. It’ll take calls and calculate the tip you leave when you dine on foie gras and caviar. The 2-inch TFT isn’t exactly exciting, but the watch-like design of the keypad is an interesting touch.

Luxury, I suppose, doesn’t really mean to make sense. You can’t really justify it. If you do want to save some cash on the +YvesBehar phone (which was actually designed for Æsir of Copenhagen), you can opt for the 7,250 Euro ($10,140) stainless steel version, but that’s like getting an entry-level Benz or the Baby Bentley: what’s the point?

The whole concept of what it means to be an electric vehicle has really started to shift in the last few years. From the Tesla Roadster to Nissan’s electric concept, you can’t say they’re not fast anymore. With the annnouncement of the Rolls Royce 102EX, you can’t say they’re not luxurious anymore either.

Set to make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1, the Rolls Royce 102EX is effectively a fully electric version of the company’s iconic Phantom. That’s the good news. The bad news, at least for electric-friendly wealthy landowners is that the 102EX is a one-off, at least for now.

CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos is quick to point out that the Rolls Royce 102EX is the “world’s first battery electric vehicle for the ultra-luxury segment.” Also known as the Phantom Experimental Electric (EE), the 102EX is being used as a testing bed for differnet drivetrains and other features so that they can refine the ride to suit their market.

Seeing how hybrids eventually made their way into luxury SUVs and other larger vehicles, I’m somehow not surprised that the whole EV thing has started to infiltrate segments that you wouldn’t otherwise consider for an electric vehicle. How the 102EX pans out could point toward an electric Bentley, Maybach, or any number of other luxury vehicles.
