The Samsung Galaxy S4 isn’t expected to be official until March 14th, but purported leaked details of the next generation phone are already hitting the web in the form of detailed specifications.

It was originally believed that Samsung would use it’s own Exynos 5440 CPU for the much anticipated phone, however new reports are suggesting that a 1.9Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor will be used. If true the Snapdragon 600 will be coupled with 2GB RAM and run Android 4.2 Jelly bean in full HD across a 5-inch display.

These new details come from an unnamed source who also provided the above image which allegedly shows the new Samsung Galaxy phone booting up. What do you think of the specs if they prove true, excited or not?

No pre-production Galaxy III was mistakenly left behind at a bar one night and that’s because Samsung took several measured steps to keep their secret project as secret as possible. As good as Apple may be about keeping secrets, it has certainly been the victim of more than a few leaks and spy pics.

A fun post was recently published on Samsung Tomorrow, the official global blog for Samsung Electronics. In it, they explain some of the steps that they took so that no leaked information about the Samsung Galaxy S III made its way to the public before the official announcement on May 3. That included leaks to the friends and family of Samsung employees, who felt like they were living “a double-life.”

Security was important. Where there was R&D work being done on the S III–which included both the design and the engineering sides of things–workers needed security cards, fingerprint scans “and everything, designated only for the few that were approved for this top-secret project.” If they had to move a prototype, even across the hall, they had to place them in security boxes “to prevent passers-by from catching a glimpse.” Indeed, they had multiple full-fledged prototypes that looked like final products, complete with multiple versions of each component, just to throw the dogs off the scent.

Instead of using regular 3rd party logistics services for delivering the prototypes to partners and suppliers, the deliveries were handled in-house and in-person. Testing procedures were then “monitored day and night to make sure no leaks in security occurred.”

What looks to be like the most legitimate piece of iPhone 5 info we have yet seen, this video of a black unibody iPhone 5 from ETradeSupply is quite convincing. The back plate no longer has a back glass, in fact, there is no back plate at all. The entire phone is encased in a black aluminum shell, similar to the unibody MacBooks. Also, there is that new dock connector that we saw earlier which could be a new magsafe, the headphone jack has been moved to the bottom also, similar to the iPod line, and new speaker vents.
Up next to the iPhone 4, this model does look as though it is a bit longer, thus giving more weight to the 4-inch screen rumor. They believe the SIM card holder is slightly smaller, this could mean a MicroSIM only slot, or something new all together. The video doesn’t show much more than the photos do, but it sure is nice to see it in someone’s hands. Stay tuned next week where we may see this unveiled at WWDC.

While Windows Phone hasn’t enjoyed the same level of success as iOS and Android up to this point, it is still a very solid, if not sometimes misunderstood, operating system. Luckily, a new leak regarding WP8 shows that Microsoft is wasting no time in adding many great new features that might further push Windows Phone adoption beyond their highest expectations.

On the hardware front, insiders claim that Microsoft is taking things to the next level, adding support for multiple cores, NFC, and full microSD card storage. Apollo (WP8) will also support four different screen resolutions as well.

These details were confirmed by Microsoft insider Paul Thurrott on his blog WinSuperSite:

Windows Phone 8, codenamed Apollo, will be based on the Windows 8 kernel and not on Windows CE as are current versions. This will not impact app compatibility: Microsoft expects to have over 100,000 Windows Phone 7.5-compatible apps available by the time WP8 launches, and they will all work fine on this new OS.

Probably the most exciting feature, though, is that developers will be able to use most of the same code when porting a Windows 8 app over to the Windows Phone platform. Combined with NFC radio, it should also become pretty easy in time to tap-to-share between WP and many W8 devices. Other new features included integrated Skype (about time!) and a live tile for data usage called “DataSmart”. It is also worth noting that Redmond has already estimated that by the time Apollo launches, the marketplace should have at least 100,000 apps in total. With Windows 8 just around the corner, is it possible Window Phone can finally see a wider adoption by smartphone users out there? All we can do for now is wait and see.

It appears that the Verge has gotten a hold of the first online photo of the next iteration of Blackberry devices, a phone dubbed as the Blackberry London. The phone is supposedly equipped with a TI OMAP dual-core 1.5GHz CPU, 1GB or RAM, 16GB storage, 8MP rear camera, and a 2MP front-facing camera as well. The London is thinner than the iPhone 4 and roughly the same size as the Galaxy S II.

The photo shows the phone running some variation of the PlayBook’s OS, though the coloring and icons are somewhat different. According to the source the photo was of a ‘dummy’ model and so the OS in the screen is likely just a static image.

The phone has some similarities in design to the RIM Porsche Designed P9981. It is still unclear whether or not this is a scam or the real deal. The website BGR also speaks up on the Verge story and claims they have a source saying the this a real BBX handset, and that the original Playbook-looking model, the so-called Colt, was scrapped in favor of the London. According to the source the London might not be ready until the 3rd quarter of 2012.

For now it’s best to take these reports with a grain of salt. Obviously Blackberry has not made any official comments regarding the supposed leak. Blackberry isn’t the king of smartphones like it was just a few short years ago, but I have to admit that the London is an interesting looking device at the very least.

You may be doubting the legitimacy of an iPhone 4S, well, there’s an overwhelming amount of proof pointing to it being the real deal now with an Apple Japan online store outing the iPhone 4s alongside an October 14 launch date. It was spotted by MacRumors, where a “Learn More” link on a page showed the iPhone 4S and now seems to have been quickly changed to avoid any trouble.

The translated page stated in Japanese that the iPhone 4S will launch at 8:00 AM on Friday October, 14. Following the past release of the iPhone 4, announced on June 7, up for pre-order June 15, then launched in-store June 24, we can estimate that October 7 is when the pre-orders will begin. This is all speculation of course, and Apple is launching two phones this year, with the iPhone 5 coming much sooner than expected. We’ll know by the end of the day for sure whether or not the iPhone 4s and the iPhone 5 will be announced today, if not, we can expect this October date to be real. The most recent beta version of Apple’s iTunes, according to Ubergizmo, name-checks the “iPhone 4S”.

We’re just hours away from the official unveiling of the Apple iPad 2, yet that doesn’t stop Chinese website DGtle from releasing a boatload of what seemingly could be the really deal. The edges have been tapered off, giving it a slimmer form factor than its predecessor. The machined holes for what looks to be a speaker are now huge, probably addressing the low sound output from the original iPad. The screen should be 9.7-inches with a dual core 1.2GHz processor, Gizmodo is reporting a possible upgrade to the Intel Light Peak port (aka Thunderbolt), but we’re not too sure about that, although it would fall in line with the new MacBook Pros. Rumors of this Light Peak spec stem from a premature Amazon listing in Germany for the iPad 2, showing it’s specs as having the above mentioned features as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Camera. What do you think, is this it?

Let’s get one thing out of the way right off the bat. Nothing about any Apple product is ever official until someone in a black turtleneck and blue jeans walks across the stage and tells us that it’s official. Even so, the rumors can be awfully juicy and, sometimes, they really do come true.

That appears to be the case with the upcoming refresh of the MacBook Pro line. This leaked photo is showing off a new port with a lightning bolt symbol next to it. That symbol is new to the Apple iconography and people are saying that it could be Intel’s Light Peak technology.

Light Peak is supposed to be a replacement for ports like USB and FireWire, offering faster speeds and all that. The USB and FireWire ports are still in tow in this supposed MBP, but that doesn’t mean it’s not Light Peak behind the bolt. According to some leaked docs, Apple is referring to the tech as “Thunderbolt.” Not to be confused with that other thing, of course.

Whatever the case, we’ll be finding out soon enough. Sandy Bridge is pretty much in the bag. Light Peak, we’re not as sure.

It's still a rumored device for now, but this Android 2.2 phone sounds like it could seriously be a hot one. For starters, you get a 3.0-inch Super AMOLED multi-touch display to go with the full QWERTY keyboard and optical touchpad. It could be that they’re just making room for the newest hotness on the block, because here are the leaked specs and features for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Q.

It’s still a rumored device for now, but this Android 2.2 phone sounds like it could seriously be a hot one. For starters, you get a 3.0-inch Super AMOLED multi-touch display to go with the full QWERTY keyboard and optical touchpad. Some people are saying that this lends itself to a slider, but a BlackBerry-esque bar phone could very well be possible too. Remember the Samsung Epix? Maybe like that, but so much newer and nicer.

That three-inch display has a great 720×480 pixel resolution and it’s getting mated with a snappy 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 8.0 megapixel camera with LED flash and HD video, secondary 1.3MP camera for video calls, Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, aGPS, mini-HDMI, microSD slot, and 16GB of internal memory.

That’s the good news. The bad news, for people on this side of the pond is that the 3G (HSDPA 7.2, HSUPA 5.76) doesn’t look like it’s compatible with our networks: 900/1900/2100 MHz. That makes it sound like the Galaxy Q is set for Europe, unless they offer a NAM version too.
