Let’s hope this isn’t some cruel elaborate April Fools day prank but the entry level Nokia Lumia 520 and mid-range Nokia Lumia 720 are currently on pre-order in the UK for a April 1st launch. The 520 is priced at £159.98 while the Lumia 720 is more at $294.98. Both phones run Windows’ mobile and are available in a range of bright attractive colours.

Nokia Windows phones fans in China should celebrate too, as the Lumia 920 and 720 (well at least their Chinese counterparts) have just received the green light from the Chinese authorities and should go on sale there as well.

Although Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 isn’t exactly running the show in the same way that iOS and Android are, they continue to gain support both in China and the rest of the globe, and Nokia’s continued push of innovative new handsets is a large part of the success Microsoft is starting to finally see in the mobile market. What do you think of Windows Phone 8 and the latest Nokia devices?

You may be doubting the legitimacy of an iPhone 4S, well, there’s an overwhelming amount of proof pointing to it being the real deal now with an Apple Japan online store outing the iPhone 4s alongside an October 14 launch date. It was spotted by MacRumors, where a “Learn More” link on a page showed the iPhone 4S and now seems to have been quickly changed to avoid any trouble.

The translated page stated in Japanese that the iPhone 4S will launch at 8:00 AM on Friday October, 14. Following the past release of the iPhone 4, announced on June 7, up for pre-order June 15, then launched in-store June 24, we can estimate that October 7 is when the pre-orders will begin. This is all speculation of course, and Apple is launching two phones this year, with the iPhone 5 coming much sooner than expected. We’ll know by the end of the day for sure whether or not the iPhone 4s and the iPhone 5 will be announced today, if not, we can expect this October date to be real. The most recent beta version of Apple’s iTunes, according to Ubergizmo, name-checks the “iPhone 4S”.

At first, we hoped for a June launch of the iPhone 5 to match up with the announcement window of every iteration before it. Then, we heard that it might get delayed until September. Then, we heard October. So, when is the iPhone 5 finally going to hit store shelves? According to a Best Buy leak, the date is set specifically for October 21.

According to the leak, some “Apple-related fixtures” will be put in place in Best Buy stores on the morning of October 21. While the leak makes no mention of the iPhone 5 in particular, it’s unlikely that this would lend itself to a new MacBook or Apple TV, though those are still very much possible. Earlier rumors pointed toward an October 9 launch in New Zealand, but it makes little sense to give the iPhone to NZ before the US. What is that Tim Cook thinking?

October is going to be a very busy month for cell phone fans. We’re hearing that the Nexus Prime with Ice Cream Sandwich will get its official debut, as will a bigger push for WP7 via Microsoft and Nokia, but you just know that Apple will steal more than its share of thunder if the iPhone 5 is indeed launching that month too.

Over a month ago, we got a roundup of iPhone 5 rumors, but several of those have now been tweaked or updated according to the latest reports. For starters, it looks like the flash is moving.

No, we’re not talking Adobe Flash. We’re talking about the flash unit that accompanies the camera. There’s a definite separation between the two when you look at the internal components and this is in line with many of the leaked cases that have appeared on the Internet.

Other rumors are pointing toward HSPA+ support (but no LTE), the same A5 processor as the iPad2, improved cameras, and an edge-to-edge screen. There are some reports of a November 21 launch of the iPhone 5, but that somehow seems unlikely. Apple has never launched an iDevce on a Monday. September somehow seems more likely too.

In any case (no pun intended), we’re still left on pins and needles of the iPhone 5… which might actually be the iPhone 4S.
