A rumor is suggesting that Google has plans to release a white version of the Nexus 4 in the coming month. The device will be running the next version of Android.

The post White Nexus 4 And Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Coming Next Month appeared first on Mobile Magazine.

It was expected by many that Google would announce the next version of Android (4.3 or 5.0), at their I/O conference. But that didn’t happen, and neither did they announce any new hardware. But, as rumored earlier, they have plans to bring out a new version of the Nexus 4 in the very near future and it will be running the new OS version.

It’s not a 32GB model that’s been talked about, but it will apparently be the same Nexus 4 that’s available now but with a white casing. The best thing is that the 16GB model will arrive running Android Jelly Bean 4.3 and the device will be released on the 10th of June. There are no hints regarding the rumored LTE support, though that is expected to be available as well.

As for the next version of Android, nobody knows what all features it’s coming with, though many believe that it will only be a minor update. Head here if you are interested in taking a better look at the white Nexus 4.

Tech lovers everywhere should be excited about the 2013 Google I/O conference which kicks off today! So what all things are expected to be unveiled at the event? Let’s take a look.

The search giant has been rumored for quite some to be working on a music streaming service similar to Spotify. And apparently Google has already signed deals with Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group for launching a paid subscription service which will give users access to a whole library of music and not just individual songs or albums. As for the fees, they most probably will ask close to $10 per month. Spotify users are charged $9.99 a month for listening to as many songs as they like.

If Google launches their service today, it would give them a head start on Apple who themselves are reportedly trying to introduce a service similar to Pandora. But recent reports have suggested that the Mac maker’s service will be delayed due to deal making problems.

Next up is Google Glass, their high tech wearable computer. They could have plans to announce some more exciting stuff about the device. But don’t expect too much as the developers are still testing the “Explorer” edition and it will take about a year for the final product to arrive.

We might get a peek at the next version of the Android OS “Key Lime Pie”, but it is looking more likely we will instead see another version of Jelly Bean. And the Jelly Bean update could be previewed on new hardware, maybe an upgraded Nexus 7 with a much faster CPU and improved display. And if that device is also given the $199 price tag, that will be more trouble for the iPad Mini starting at $329. The iPad Mini sales are reportedly against Apple’s expectations at the moment, probably because consumers are waiting for the device’s successor.

Also expected is a possible Nexus 4 smartphone refresh. There also are quite a few gaming-related announcements planned!

What do you hope to see shown off at I/O?

Rumors are already there about an upcoming Nexus 5 from Google, but it appears like there’s more in store for the existing Nexus 4 handset. According to SIDHTech, Google has plans to announce an updated version of its Nexus 4 smartphone at Google I/O next month.

The search giant will introduce the Nexus 4 with 32GB of storage and LTE support, things that customers have wanted in the Nexus 4 after it was released last year. And apparently the device is coming with compatibility for CDMA, so could be launched on Sprint and Verizon in the US.

The Nexus 4 coming in May instead of the Nexus 5 won’t be a surprise since the latter was only launched in November. It would be too soon if a successor arrives in the coming month. Also this wouldn’t be the first time that Google comes out with an updated version of a Nexus product. You might remember the Nexus 7 update that came out last October. But Nexus 5 is expected to come out this year itself, most probably in November.

And Google is also expected to unveil Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie at the May conference.

While it doesn’t sound like the supposed “Project X” phone from Motorola is going to be Google’s next Nexus device, Google and Motorola have been working together on this new smartphone and now some more details are being leaked. The expectation is that Google will be unveiling Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie to the world on May 15 and it could be making its debut with this so-called Motorola X Phone.

The name might change, of course, but it seems that an unnamed source has gotten his hands on an early prototype of the device.

Google and Motorola have been working closely to address two primary concerns: battery life and durability. That sounds right up the alley of the recent Motorola DROID RAZR HD and its DROID RAZR HD MAXX counterpart.

They’re handling battery life with a bigger battery, probably in the same range as the 3300mAh unit found in the MAXX, and they’re handling the durability thing with the Kevlar back we already see on the RAZR HD and MAXX. So, what’s so special here?

Even though the MAXX has a large battery, there are some software and hardware things that make the battery drain faster. They’ve apparently optimized this, as they were able to get through “several road trip hours on a [single] charge with the GPS software constantly on, which usually is an activity that kills your juicer in no time.”

It sounds like they’re sticking with a 4.8-inch screen, but they’re getting bumped to a quad core processor, up to 128GB of storage, microSD, and a much better Sony Exmor RS camera, the last of which will be a significant improvement for Motorola. And, of course, this phone will likely get Key Lime Pie and who knows what secret sauce Google has baking for that Android upgrade? It may not be a Nexus, but this version of KLP is likely to be vanilla or very close to vanilla too.

A lot can change in the next three months, but things are looking up for Project X. What do you think, interested in the Motorola X Phone or not?

A new Qualcomm roadmap has leaked out to the web revealing what we all already knew, Android 5.0 will in fact be called Key Lime Pie.

This has pretty much be “unofficially confirmed” through many hints and teasers in the past, so it really isn’t much of a surprise. Based on the leaked information, it seems likely that Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie will be announced in the second quarter of 2013, likely at Google I/O on May 15th.

Qualcomm’s information also revealed they planned to introduce new chips “tailored to fit the updated platform”. So what is Android 5.0 bringing to the table? Honestly, we have no clue. That said, all the indications so far hint to something very BIG.

With other past rumors talking about a Nexus Chromebook with a touchscreen and other similar efforts, perhaps Android 5.0 will see tighter integration with Chrome OS or something? Again, its all just speculation at this point.

One thing is for sure, 2013 seems like an interesting year in tech. Microsoft is attempting to prove itself in the tablet space, BB10 is now arriving, Firefox is on its way, Ubuntu Phone is starting to sort of come out and continued changes in the Chrome OS and Android world.

This year is going to be a good one for techies like myself, I can just feel it.

Rumors have been abuzz for some time that the next release of Android will be named Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Now a Google employee has all-but confirmed that the name Key Lime Pie is official.

Manu Cornet, a Google employee, posted an image online which apparently shows the evolution of Android from it’s inception to current day. It shows all previous versions including the current Jelly Bean and one extra on the far right which appears to be an Android holding a piece of Key Lime Pie (See Below).

Google has not released any other information regarding Android 5.0, but we expect to see the release sometime in the next year.

What can we expect with Key Lime Pie? While we know very little, some suggest that Key Lime Pie could see a tighter integration between Chrome OS and Android efforts, especially if the rumor of a touch-based Google Nexus Chromebook prove to be true.

Keep in mind that it is all nothing but speculation and rumor at this point, so take this all with a grain of salt.

At first, people thought it was silly that Google would decide to name its different versions of Android after sweet treats in alphabetical order, but that was half the fun. And the fun is continuing after Ice Cream Sandwich with Jelly Bean. And now we’re learning that Key Lime Pie will be the Android that comes after Jelly Bean.

The version numbers of Jelly Bean and Key Lime Pie aren’t quite so clear, since Google jumped from 2.3 Gingerbread to 3.0 Honeycomb to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Even so, a “reliable source” is saying that Key Lime Pie is being prepared in the Google kitchen as the next iteration of its mobile operating system. I’d imagine that both JB and KLP will continue down the ICS path of being both smartphone and tablet friendly.

It’s also hard to say just how far down the timeline we’re looking here. The Verge is guessing that Key Lime Pie won’t be dished out until some time in 2013, which makes sense if Jelly Bean won’t show up until the end of this year. Then, we have to start thinking about “L” names for the next Android. Lemon Meringue Pie? Followed by Marzipan or Macaroon?
