Make an appointment with one of the workers at the Genius Bar in an Apple Store and you’ll be well on your way to a full replacement on the iPhone 4 back glass panel. It’s not going to be free — unless you can figure out a way to sweet-talk your way into that deal — but it’s not exactly expensive at just $29 either.

Naturally, this would cost a lot more if you smashed up the front glass or damaged any of the internal components, but replacing the back panel only took five minutes and the price of a nice meal. I used to be the type to use leather holsters and other beefier protection for my phones, but I stick to protective films like Invisible Shield now. It just looks nicer and doesn’t add much bulk.

Keep in mind that this tale comes by way of Canada, so your experience (and pricing for replacing the back glass) might vary in other countries.
