We’ve all encountered this problem. You want to plug in your iPhone to charge, but it’s dark and you can’t see the port. The CordLite fixes that, because it is an illuminated charger cable for your preferred iDevice. No more fumbling in your dark bedroom or in the dark confines of your car at night.

The concept is actually really simple. The CordLite replaces your OEM charging cable and it contains forward-facing LEDs at the port connector part. There are two smaller indicator lights to let you know which way is up. There are no buttons for turning the lights on and off either, as they are touch-activated. It might have been nice to have the lights on the USB end of the cable too, but I’m sure that would have significantly increased the cost and complexity.

You can back this project by hitting up the Kickstarter page. They need the money to start mass production and a pledge of $30 or more will land you one of the first units. If you pledge $45 or more, you get a special laser-etched version.

For now, they’re focusing solely on the CordLite for Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod, but they have already prototyped a microUSB version that will follow if this initial launch works out well. If everything goes according to plan, the first batch of CordLites for iDevices will ship this fall.

Where is that darn charger? We’ve all had the experience of misplacing our phone chargers, but the JuiceTank eliminates that problem altogether by integrating the charger right into the iPhone case. And it looks half decent doing it too.

You would think that this could make for a rather fat iPhone case, but the JuiceTank does something quite interesting: the two prongs for the wall charger bit are actually separated. Each prong springs up from either side, allowing the case to stay relatively skinny. If the design called for the two prongs to stay together, it would have been a much thicker product.

As the JuiceTank does need to juice up the iPhone stored inside, the 30-pin connector is occupied. However, they’ve integrated a micro-USB port in there too for when you want to sync up with your computer. That way, you don’t have to remove the iPhone from the case. Check out the Kickstarter page for more info. Pledge $55 or more and you’ll get one of the first JuiceTanks when and if it hits retail in July 2012.

The PlugBug is a small adapter that attaches to your Apple notebooks power adapter and adds a USB charger capable of charging your iPhone or iPad. The add-on couples to your Apple charger, in place of the extension cord or plug adapter, allowing you to leave one of your chargers at home.

This sort of simultaneous charging is especially beneficial when you have two devices and only one power outlet, without any means of diverting the power to the second device. PlugBug users a 10 watt charging system, which essentially is in accordance with the charging protocols of iPad and other Apple mobile devices. Because PlugBug takes its power directly form the wall socket it charges much quicker than having the iPad plugged in your 5V USB port. The PlugBug Charger is currently available on sale with a price tag of $34.99.

That’s where the Bluelounge MiniDock comes in, it’s a charger that plugs directly in a power outlet for your device to sit upright while charging. The Mini Dock replaces the USB connector and is ideal for those who travel a lot. There is no longer the risk of stepping on it while it stands on the floor or placing it on a table or desk from where it could easily fall.

While its not exactly practical to use your phone or tablet with the MiniDock, the charger does help in other situations. For example, you could easily watch a movie, a video or listen to your favorite music in the kitchen, bathroom or from the top of your bed while its safely stuck against the wall beside you.

Designed for EU, UK and US wall outlets, the MiniDock is priced at just $19.95.

If you’re going to be environmentally friendly, you may as well look the part. Why use some kind of bioplastic that looks like any other piece of plastic when you can dock your treasured iDevice in what looks like a chunk of wood you found at the beach.

This wooden docking station is handmade in Croatia, and is designed to charge a range of iOS devices, including most iPhones and iPods, with the noted exception of the iPod shuffle of course. It’s also not quite big enough to handle your iPad, but it does look like it can handle an iPhone that’s still wrapped up in a case.

The beautiful thing here is that it’s not some polypropyl-whatever fashioned to look like something that fell off a tree. Instead, this docking station really is made from stumps or broken logs of dead oak trees. In this way, it’s very possible that each individual product is unique. That’s pretty cool. From what I can see, there’s an extra USB port in the front too, in case you want to charge just about anything else. Find it on Etsy for $90 ;so long as they dont actually cut any trees down to make them.

We all have a lot of electronic devices these days and we tend to leave them plugged in even when it’s not necessary. There has to be a way to cut out that “vampire power” in a fun and colorful way, right? Dexim seems to think so.

Over at CES 2011, they have something called the Visible G Charger. Compatible with your choice of iDevice, it’s a wall charger whose cord actually glows when it’s being used. What’s cool is that this glow “moves” to show the electrical current coursing through it, but it doesn’t actually consume any extra power. The cord is lined with some sort of electroluminescent coating that reacts to the electricity passing through it.

When your iPhone or iPod touch is done charging, the wall charger effectively shuts off to prevent the drain of vampire power. You can see this, because the glowing cord will stop glowing. This isn’t actually groundbreaking or world changing, but it does look neat.

A small indicator letting you know the iPhone is charging is so dated, with the iconic charger, you’ll get the full charging experience by a gradual green light moving its way up towards the iPhone – one bar at at ime. It’s going to stick out like a sore thumb sure, so you best keep this one on the desk while charging.

It’s from IPEVO and sells for $54.

I really don’t know what to make of this, it looks like an umbilical cord and is pretty disgusting since it can move. The last time I saw an umbilical cord was 31 years ago, and I’ve had no plans to see oney attached to an iPhone. Charging cable designs may have become pretty stale in Japan, enough to make Mio I-zawa design this thing. Now it just needs a baby womb app.
