When it comes to offering protection for your mobile phone, one of the most trusted names in the industry has to be OtterBox. And now you can get an OtterBox Defender Series Case for iPhone 5 for just under thirty bucks. That’s almost half price.

The regular retail price for the OtterBox Defender Case for the iPhone 5 is $49.95, but it’s on sale right now for just $29.15, saving you $20.80 (42%) off the regular retail price. Remember that the Defender Series is “the most rugged” and that it’s “nearly indestructible.” It has three layers of protection, including a polycarbonate skeleton to cushion your iDevice.

While it may not be bulletproof, this case will protect your iPhone 5 against drops, dust and scratches. There’s also an included screen protector and holster, though it’s important to note that this is not a waterproof case. Don’t go snorkeling with your iPhone just yet. Aside from that, this case was designed with all those “worst case scenarios” in mind. It also helps that there are port covers to keep out dust and debris.

You can pick up the OtterBox Defender Series iPhone 5 Case on Amazon.com now for under $30. And yes, this qualifies for Amazon’s super saver shipping too.

Even though the Apple iPhone 5 is still very new, it looks like the cases for the new smartphone are already going on sale. Case in point is this great looking MiniSuit Clipster case for the iPhone 5, which has been slashed by 70% off its regular price.

The MiniSuit Clipster Combo Case is designed specifically for the iPhone 5. What’s interesting is that it comes with both a kickstand and a holster belt clip. This way, you can use the case for some hands-free video watching at your desk, or you can clip your iPhone 5 to your hip when it’s time to hit the road again. The stand is built into the MiniSuit Clipster, while the belt clip portion is removable.

The case itself is made from a rubberized polycarbonate, so you’re able to get really good protection for your iPhone 5 while simultaneously gaining a better grip in this lightweight construction. The interior is lined with microfiber to keep your phone’s screen free of fingerprints, dust and lint.

The MiniSuit Clipster Combo Case can be found on Amazon for $8.95, down from the regular list price of $29.95. You can alternatively pick up the white version for $9.75, which is made from flexible TPU, but lacks the kickstand and belt clip.

A new product by a start-up business on Indigogo is reshaping the way cases interact with our smart phones. This case isn’t just about protecting your iPhone; it’s also about turning it into something that makes the extra thickness do more than just add an extra layer of padding.

“This iPhone case is the type that gets handed to James Bond by Q before he heads out on a mission.” Says a writer for Inqmind, and with its plethora of features, he might just be right.

The designers have clearly tried to make the case fit hand-in-hand with the functionality of the iPhone, creating something that compliments its simplicity, instead of hiding it in a layer of well-manufactured plastic.

The case, which has been dubbed The Ready Case will come with 6 handy features making you all the more ready for action with your new iPhone 5.

Headphone Clip

The headphone clip helps to keep everything nice and tidy, so that when you’re out for a walk going for a jog, you can wrap any excess wire around the clip and you’re good to go.

USB Drive

The USB drive fits straight into the case itself, making it part of the plastic infrastructure. But when you need to quickly transfer files between a non-portable drive and something you can keep with you on the move, this adds a small and lightweight alternative to traditional USB drives. The best thing is that unless your lose your iPhone 5, you won’t lose the USB drive. You’re not going to lose your iPhone 5, are you?

Kickstand

If that’s not cool enough, pop the USB out, and attach it to the Ready Case to use as a kickstand, useful for keeping your phone upright. You can attach it to either the landscape or portrait kickstand ‘ports’ which can be adjusted to change the angle of the device.

Lens Ring

The lens ring gives you the opportunity to take photography on the iPhone 5 even further. You can add a variety of lens to change the viewing image of your iPhones camera, letting you take photos in a new perspective.

Multi-Tool

If this doesn’t sound useful enough already, the Ready Case also has a detachable multi-tool, making this iPhone case the gadget geek’s Swiss army knife. The multi tool includes a standard knife, serrated knife, a flathead screwdriver and a bottle opener.

The multi-tool comes in either black or silver and you’ll have a choice between an 8GB and 16GB USB drive.

Watch the video below and check out the project on Indigogo, this would be a great fit for James Bond or Mac Gyver.

So, assuming you put in your pre-order early enough, you should be getting your hands on the brand new Apple iPhone 5 a little later this week. You probably want to make sure that your precious new iPhone is properly protected, but that doesn’t mean you need to buy an expensive case. Sometimes, a cheaper $10 one will do.

Case in point is the Photive Natural Slim Fit Case for the iPhone 5. They say that it is a “guaranteed fit” for the new iPhone and it doesn’t add much in terms of bulk, so you still get that slender and sleek appearance that you desire. It’s pretty simple, with just a plain black housing, but I’d say the understated beauty is even more attractive. The lack of the two-toning on the back, though, might make people think you have that dinosaur of a device called the iPhone 4S.

But I digress. The minimalist design is a good thing, I’d say, and the rubberized finish on the hard polycarbonate shell gives you a comfortable grip. There’s also a raised bezel to help protect the screen. This is a super slim and lightweight case “that’s barely there.” Find it on Amazon for $9.99, which is actually $20 off the regular list price. If you’re not happy with it, there is a 60-day money back guarantee too.

Most Android phones have a front-facing notification light to let you know that you’ve received a message or push notification of some kind. While the iPhone also has notifications, it only does so with the rear-facing LED flash. If you have your iPhone face-up on a desk, you may never notice that light. With FLASHr, you will.

What Trey DeArk and Terence Green have done here is create a case for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S that effectively reflects the light from the LED flash so that it envelopes the outside of the phone. In effect, your iPhone lights up to let you know that you’ve got a new text message or Facebook update to read. Because the light is reflected in multiple directions around the phone, you’ll see the notification regardless of orientation.

But what if you actually want to use that LED flash to take a picture? There is a small cover that allows the LED light to reflect back into the case for the notifications, but you can slide that cover open to reveal the LED light again. This way, you can take photos as you normally would. Check out the Kickstarter page for more information. They plan on doing multiple colors and the early bird special gives you a free custom combo case with a minimum pledge of $30.

When it comes to protecting your iPhone, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of options readily available at every turn. Finding the right one will largely depend on what you are looking for, if it’s just a little dust or a fingerprint or two, you may not need all that much, but if you want water, dust, shock, and more, there certainly options out there that can cover all of that as well.

One of these options is the new Armor Series case from Otterbox, designed for the iPhone 4/4S. This case has a thermoplastic shell, is precision fit to 300th of an inch for the 4 and 4S, and has a medical-grade stainless steel latch. The translation is, you won’t find hardly any other device stronger or safer for your iPhone, unless you want to go the extreme route a get a huge steel $650 case for it. Considering the case is too huge and heavy to be of any use though, I’d say the Armor Series is probably a better bet.

The bad news is that we don’t know how much this sturdy case costs just yet, though I would expect to pay a fairly hefty sum, considering just how solid the case seems to be. To learn more about the case you can always visit Otterbox’s website, which will likely soon have pricing information as well, since a timer exists on the page counting down about 25 days (as of this writing) until it is officially out. We’ve also included Otterbox’s promotional video below for those interested.

Everybody knows that there are tons of iPhone cases out there to choose from and that’s why case manufacturers are forced to come out with different case designs some of which are impractical or weird, but that does not give the license to anyone to freak everyone out. You probably will not find anything weirder than what you see above – the Hand iPhone Case.

The spooky case, which is likely inspired by the Thing in Addams Family, is from Japanese retailer Rakuten and is available with a price tag of 4,762 yen ($58), although it’s currently listed as out of stock. So it’s a whole lot cheaper than the bulletproof iPhone case, which by the way is a product that you will never find inside anybody’s pockets simply because of its size. But we are finding it difficult to imagine the Hand in the hands of many people anytime in the future.

Head here to learn about the possible uses for the new product. And do let us know what you liked about it, because we haven’t found anything.

The iPhone certainly needs protection, but there’s no need for too much of it. Japanese firm Marudai has come out with an iPhone case which appears to be the toughest case ever made, although it’s also the most impractical.

As you can see above, the case has a massive backside, which is made of a combination of steel and aluminum. According to the company, the case’s back can withstand a .50 caliber shot. But that type of protection will not be available for the device’s front side, which will always be exposed.

Most people (or most likely all) won’t be spending $650 to protect their iPhone from a bullet that most probably won’t fly in anytime. The case is strong though and also has the usual hole for the device’s camera, but it won’t be comfortable in the hands and certainly won’t fit into your pockets. And in case you haven’t noticed, the case costs more than the new iPad’s 32GB Wi-Fi version. You can simply buy a new iPhone to keep as a backup.

But if you are still interested, Marudai is taking orders at the moment and they will even be shipping an empty bullet with the case. If you are looking for something more pocket-friendly and affordable, take a peek at what G-Form has to offer.

We’ve seen products from companies like Lensbaby that let you take more interesting pictures with your iPhone, but this Magnifi case is so much more versatile. It can be adapted to work with even higher end optical instruments, including giant telescopes.

The Magnifi is comprised of two parts. The first part is the case that wraps around your iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S. The second part is a detachable bayonet mount. This aligns with the iPhone’s camera and then it can snatch onto the eyepiece of the optical instrument you wish to use. This can work with telescopes, microscopes, binoculars and more, giving you a true optical view of whatever you’d normally see with these instruments. That could make for some very interesting photographic opportunities. The key is the detachable bayonet mount, because it precisely align’s the iPhone camera with the optical axis of the eyepiece.

This is a fairly universal adapter, but there are some caveats. The optical eyepiece has to be at least one-inch long and between 1-1.5 inches in diameter. This is because the bayonet mount has to wrap around it. This may also mean that you may have to remove the rubber seals on the eyepiece.

The Magnifi project is currently up on Kickstarter, seeking $10,000 in seed funding for an initial production run. Pledge $60 or more to get yourself one Magnifi.

Don’t you hate it when you’re out on the town, Instagramming and Foursquaring with the best of them, and then the battery on your iPhone dies? That might not be a problem anymore, thanks to the Solacase for iPhone.

Yeah, it’s just another cell phone case with a solar panel on the back. The press release had some bold claims about how you’d never have to charge your iPhone again, but your mileage will certainly vary. It also means that you’ll need to dangle your iPhone out in the world for the solar panel to get its juice. I suppose that’s why it has a hole near the top.

It definitely looks a little on the bulky side, so that’s the tradeoff you’ll need to make for the convenience of some extra juice for your iPhone. The good news is that it’s compatible with all generations of iPhone and there’s even a built-in backup battery to store some extra power. The Solacase follows the same philosophy as the Solapad for iPad and the Solafire for the Kindle Fire.

The Solacase comes by way of Solawerks, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Domark International. It retails for $29.95 and comes in a variety of colors, including four glow in the dark varieties. Yes, becase you want to attract even more attention to the iPhone carelessly dangling from your messenger bag.
