Samsung is right now leading the smartphone race, so something big certainly should come from Apple if they have plans to reach the top again. Apple is expected to bring out their next iPhone at their worldwide developer conference in June. Further evidence that this is happening comes from reports claiming that suppliers are already making the display for the so-called iPhone 5S.

While other companies have already started the manufacturing, the next gen iPhone’s LCD displays from Sharp will enter production in June. All these developments are pointing to a possible launch sometime in June or July.

The iPhone 5S is expected to run iOS 7 and come with an updated processor, a fingerprint sensor, improved cam, and more RAM, among other additions. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has earlier said that the device will take time to arrive due to delays in development of the fingerprint sensor and their next OS.

Meanwhile, the rumored low cost iPhone, which is expected to be unveiled beside the iPhone 5S, could enter mass production sometime in the near future. This has been suggested by a new rumor about Apple supplier Pegatron’s plans to increase its workforce in China by 40 percent in the second half of 2013.

As for their upcoming iPad Mini 2, it is expected to arrive with a high resolution Retina Display, which could delay the manufacturing of the device.

Today’s big Apple news is that 3 of their most anticipated products have been delayed due to various technical reasons. Well delayed might not be the correct term as launch dates for the iPhone 5S, iPad mini 2 and budget iPhone haven’t even been announced.

Still, industry analysts are claiming that Apple have ran in to issues with the new products which could push launches closer to the end of the year than many had hoped.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims a number of issues plague the new Apple products. The iPhone 5s’ purported fingerprint scanner and colour options being one issue, the thickness of the plastic shell on the budget iPhone a second and “Technical Challenges” face the Retina display iPad mini.

So what does all this mean for launch dates then? Well Kuo has now guesstimated the iPhone 5S and iPad mini 2 will ship between September and November while the budget iPhone could be in stores between August to October.

Are you getting excited about yet another iPad and iPhone update? Then you had better mark these months in your diary. Mashable is reporting that the iPad 5 could launch as early as April, with the iPhone 5S a few months later in August.

So what can we expect? Well judging by the leaked iPad 5 covers, the new iPad will share a similar design with the current iPad mini, also expect better cameras, faster CPU and more RAM. Oh, and the iPad mini 2 is also scheduled to pop up around the same time with a retina display, larger battery and a much larger price tag.

iPhone 5S rumors are a little more interesting with talk of a low-cost version with plastic body due around July along with a ‘regular’ iPhone 5S, with sales dates guesstimated for August.

On a personal note, I really hope Apple pulls something big out of the bag for both the iPhone 5S and iPad 5 as I’m getting kind of bored with their lack of innovation and slight spec boosts year in and year out. How about you guys? Agree or disagree?

This seems to happen every year: low quality pictures get leaked of an upcoming phone, and occasionally we’ll see images of the phone being manufactured. Magically enough, we never actually see the handset in its full glory until it’s official announcement.

The same thing has happened with a Chinese website which has recently uploaded images of what is said to be the iPhone 5S. Of course there aren’t any images of the full phone, however there are pictures of what is allegedly the next generation iPhone in production.

There aren’t very many noticeable differences between what is being shown and the original iPhone 5. The chipset does look slightly different, but other this, I don’t really see any change.

It’s currently unknown what Apple are planning to bring into play this year, and other than the obvious rumors following next gen phones and tablets, rumors have spread about a possible iPhablet and even an Apple smartwatch. Are you interested in the Apple iPhone 5S or not?

This pattern began with the iPhone 3GS, then the iPhone 4S, and now it seems the iPhone 5S, which analysts suspect will launch later this year and will look physically identical to the current iPhone 5. Analysts watching Apple also spotted a trend in the companies performance and spending before the launch of a next generation iPhone, and claim that the signals are pointing to an iPhone 5S rather than all new phone.

We’ve heard rumors before of the iPhone 5S and even the idea of a lower-end Apple device potentially for developing markets such as China. Now the rumor mill turns again, this time claiming that this year will see three new iPhone devices.

The first of these alleged devices is the iPhone 5S, which will arrive sometime around June. Next up is the iPhone Math (?). This oddly named device is supposed to pack a 4.8-inch display, awfully big jump from Apple’s current standards. Last phone on this crazy rumor train is a new iPhone with a 12MP camera that will arrive in time for the holidays. The two “June-bound” devices will only offer 8MP cameras.

This “report” comes from Commercial Times, with the aid of information reported from China Times. The original China Times article also talks about specific producers that will be gearing up for the production of these new iDevices, as translated by BrightWire:

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd. will undertake 90% of the manufacturing orders, and Largan has received orders for 8 million camera lenses. Fujikura, Flexium and Zhen Ding will share production orders for printed circuit boards. Foxconn Technology and Coxon will provide molding parts for Apple’s new models; Foxlink will continue to offer connectors; Hon Hai Precision’s Microelectronics Technology will start designing 4G network solutions for Apple.

While the iPhone 5S portion of the article might very well prove correct, take the rest of this with an entire salt mine. The original source article seems to have specifics down, but that certainly doesn’t make it any truer.

The idea of Apple jumping up to such a large screen size so quickly after requiring developers to tweak apps for the move to 4-inch displays just doesn’t make sense. Additionally, such quick turn around cycles between an iPhone 5S, 4.8-inch iPhone and a higher-end iPhone (6?) doesn’t seem like a smart plan either.

The bottom-line is that while anything is technically possible, don’t get your hopes up for a launch of the iPhone Math or iPhone 6 this year. What do you think of this rumor, any chance that all of this could be happening or is it pure speculation and nothing more?

First, we’re hearing that the new iPhone could take the path of the iPod family and be introduced with a number of different colors. The manufacturing process will likely be similar to that of the iPod touch, giving you a metallic outer casing in your choice of colors. I’m not sure how popular that could be, but it does seem possible. I imagine most of us would still choose the monochrome options.

The business analyst also says that the new iPhone will come with some hardware upgrades, like the availability of a 128GB storage option. Given the current pricing model, that could place the top tier iPhone at a $300 premium over the base model. We’re also hearing that NFC will finally make it to the iPhone, as well as better battery life and a 4-inch 2272×1280 beyond Retina IGZO display with a pixel density of 652ppi. I think that’s wishful thinking, but considering we have 5-inch Android phones with 1080p, that’s not too far beyond that. I’d worry about battery life though.

We can fully expect all kinds of new iPhone 5S rumors in the months to follow, but here are some nuggets to munch on in the meantime.

While the iPhone 6 is probably a long ways away, the same might not be true for an iPhone 5 update, known as the iPhone 5S. According to Jeffries analyst Peter Misek, the phone is coming in June and will offer hardware updates including NFC and an improved camera.

Similar to the recent iPod Touch refresh, Misek claims that the next iPhone will arrive in much more colorful variations. Considering Microsoft has also went after the colorful look with the its HTC and Nokia phones, this wouldn’t be too surprising.

So we are getting NFC, new colors and a better camera, according to the analyst. Anything else? Yep, the phone will be SuperHD– or so he says. Keep in mind that this Jeffries analyst doesn’t mention any specific sources and could just be talking based on what he is seeing coming from competition. I would take all of this with a big grain of salt for now.

Still, the idea of an iPhone 5S with all these new features sounds like a nice way to push the iPhone forward and help it better compete against upcoming Android, BB10 and Windows Phone rivals. The iPhone 5 hasn’t been out very long, but that’s not stopping rumors of the so-called iPhone 5S. Now it seems that a new set of leaked images have hit the net this morning, claiming to be the first shots of the next iPhone.

The images originally leaked courtesy of iPhone5parts.net, and shows a design that is very similar to the iPhone 5, but has a few parts of the housing slightly tweaked, such as screw placement. The model number and FCC ID have also been replaced with placeholder info, suggesting a prototype.

Rumors currently suggest production for the iPhone 5S will begin in December, with a summer 2013 debut. With that in mind, these have a chance of being the real deal.
