Do people in the United States pay too much for Internet Access when compared to many other countries? Additionally, is the service we get for the money slower than what many other countries receive? According to Susan Crawford, the answer is yes.

For those that don’t know who Susans Crawford is, she is a former special assistant for Obama in Science, Technology and innovation. She is well respected in many circles, so much that there is even an active petition to get appointed as the next FCC chairman.

So why are we overpaying? In an interview with Bill Moyers, Crawford states that the US government has allowed media organizations to put profit ahead of public interest. In her own words, “the rich are getting gouged, the poor are very often left out, and this means that we’re creating, yet again, two Americas, and deepening inequality through this communications inequality.”
