by Michael Kwanon Monday, March 28, 2011, 4:00 pm
On the one hand, we have tradition. Every year since the first iPhone was announced so many moons ago, Apple has shown off a new version of its touchscreen mobile phone every June. Without fail. Given this and the June timing of WWDC, it only makes sense that the next iPhone (whether its an iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, or whatever name they give it) would be unveiled this June too.

How do we know so much about something that doesn't even exist yet? Well, because there are many analysts out there who keep track of component inventory, manufacturers and anything related to building Apple products all together; they're paid to. Although the iPhone 4 is brand spanking new to Verizon, and not even a year old on AT&T, many are expecting the iPhone 5 to come in June 2011.

You know how Starbucks is starting to accept mobile payments via barcode? They decided not to use NFC because of lack of adoption at this point. But that may soon be changing, because both the upcoming iPhone 5 and the iPad 2 could be rocking near field communications.

by Fabrizio Pilatoon Wednesday, January 5, 2011, 4:57 pm
You know that space age Liquidmetal technology we love to hear about that's in everything from high-tech gadgets to thousand dollar watches? Well, it may have just become an internal component to some seriously jaw dropping technology. Apple uses Liquidmetal in the iPhone and iPad casing -- oddly enough not in the iPhone 4s back glass -- but apparently a new use for this ultralight weight stronger than steel GMO have been found; to house a vat of potentially explosive combustable liquid to power your gadgets.
