Right now HTC’s flagship Windows Phone device is none other than the HTC 8X, but this might be changing soon enough. The news comes courtesy of a possible leak from an Xbox Live Rewards survey.

The Xbox Live survey asked participants how excited they would be to receive a number of handsets. The list included the iPhone, Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx HD, Nokia Lumia 920, Samsung Galaxy S3 and — the HTC Titan 3.

Back in June, rumors suggested a device called the “HTC Zenith” was in works, and would bring quad-core power, a 4.7-inch Super LCD2 display, NFC support, an 8MP camera and HPSA+ 42 support. Could the HTC Titan 3 be that rumored handset? It’s certainly possible, though I’d take this all with a grain of salt since it is pretty much just wild speculation at this point.

Assuming this rumor is true, when would such a device arrive? It’s hard to say, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it shows up at CES 2013 and arrives on the market shortly after. Of course there is also the possibility that this was a total misprint and that there is no HTC Titan 3 at all.

The idea of a quad-core Windows Phone 8 handset certainly sounds exciting, and it brings up another question. If this is true, is Nokia sitting still while HTC prepares a device that could beat out the Nokia Lumia 920? Or, is Nokia also working on a quad-core beast for arrival in early-to-mid 2013?

You also have to wonder about what carrier this would arrive to. The HTC Titan 2 hit AT&T as an exclusive, but right now the Nokia Lumia 920 is only for AT&T as well.

Is it a smart move to have all the best Windows Phone devices locked down to AT&T, or is it possible that the Titan 3 might see a wider launch than past variants of the Titan?
