Remember the HTC Thunderbolt? I don’t blame you if you totally forgot about it. For those that are still clinging to the device, good news: ICS is coming.

After all this time, you probably never dreamed of this day. Now that it has come, you probably are already preparing for an upgrade. Still, for those that want to hang on to the HTC Thunderbolt a little longer, ICS should give the aging handset a little bit of a renewed life.

Right now Verizon’s support page for the handset says it is “coming soon” though it hasn’t given an official date or timeframe for the roll out. The important thing is that their support page confirms its existence. It’s also worth noting this is going to be a pretty sizable update, around 400MB (give or take), so best reserved for a Wi-Fi download.

Excited for this news or have you long since moved on from the HTC Thunderbolt?

The lightning fast rumored HTC ThunderBolt appears to be confirmed by way of a full page ad in none other than Rolling Stone magazine. This is HTC’s first LTE phone period, and it’s headed to Verizon. HTC Mecha and Droid Incredible HD names were floating around, but it seems ThunderBolt is it and its an electric choice considering its pushing the fastest data around.

Another leak to the right of the 4.3-inch displayed ThunderBolt is the Inspire 4G for AT&T. With HSPA+ being pushed to the edges, it’s not exactly clear what AT&T is doing with “4G” with this offering. Stay tuned for more as we’re sure CES will bring out the best of em, and perhaps we can find out what’s really under the ThunderBolt’s hood.

A rose by any other name... though HTC probably doesn't want you referring to this device as a rose. Over the course of its development life this smartphone has been called the HTC Incredible HD and the HTC Mecha. Well, it looks like Verizon and HTC have finally settled on an official name and it's the HTC Thunderbolt. Thor would be proud.

A rose by any other name… though HTC probably doesn’t want you referring to this device as a rose. Over the course of its development life this smartphone has been called the HTC Incredible HD and the HTC Mecha. Well, it looks like Verizon and HTC have finally settled on an official name and it’s the HTC Thunderbolt. Thor would be proud.

For the most part, we already know everything there is to know about his hotly anticipated device. It’s going to be the first 4G smartphone available through Verizon’s new LTE network, joining the 4G ranks of devices like Sprint’s EVO 4G and Epic 4G, though they use totally different technology for their respective “4G” networks.

As a quick rundown, the HTC Thunderbolt gets that massive touchscreen display, 4G LTE connectivity, a front-facing camera for video calls, and the increasingly commonplace “kickstand” in the back so you can enjoy your streaming movies handsfree. It’s basically the same as the HTC Desire HD, but with Verizon’s LTE-ness along for the ride.

Look for an official unveiling at CES next week, with or without the desired (no pun intended) dual core processor.
