Looking for a great Windows Phone 8 device but don’t want to pay hardly anything to do it? Amazon Wireless is now offering the AT&T version of the HTC 8x for just $.01. Cheaper than Verizon’s version selling for $99.99, but you’re then getting 16GB memory, rather than 8GB like the AT&T version.

This is a great choice if you aren’t 100% sold on the Nokia Lumia 920 but still want a high-end Windows Phone 8 handset. From a hardware perspective, it’s actually about on par with the Lumia 920 in many aspects– though the camera and screen in the 920 are still quite a bit more advanced.

So what’s the catch here? Besides signing up for a two year contract, there isn’t one. This deal will work both with upgrades and new customers. Hoenstly, for a premium Windows Phone 8 device, this is a steal.

What do you think, does the one-penny pricing from Amazon Wireless sway you over to the HTC 8X or not?

While this probably won’t surprise too many people out there, a new study indicates that the Nokia Lumia 920 is hands-down the most popular Windows Phone 8 smartphone so far.

The mobile ad company Ad Duplex was behind the study. The firm compiled an infographic of Windows Phone market share by monitoring Windows Phone apps that use the AdDuplex software development kit. How accurate is this? Probably debatable, but it should still give us a reasonable picture of what phones currently seem to be in use the most.

The results showed that when compared to legacy Windows Phone devices, Windows Phone 8 marketshare is still pretty puny, though that’s not exactly shocking.

When compared to all Windows Phone devices, the Nokia Lumia 920 ranks in sixth place, and the Nokia Lumia 710 holds supreme with 24 percent of the market. As for WP8 handsets, the Nokia Lumia 920 is severely beating the HTC 8X so far, with the 8x ranking as the 20th most widely used Windows Phone device.

It’s also worth noting that 76% of all Windows Phone 7 devices in use are by Nokia, while 80% of Windows Phone 8 devices are Nokia phones.

What do you think of the current Windows Phone handsets out there? Like what Nokia has to offer, or are you swayed by HTC’s 8x and 8s handsets?

Thinking about making the jump into the world of Windows Phone but aren’t sure if you want to pay anything up-front to do it? Right now is the perfect time to make the switch to T-Mobile, then.

For those who don’t mind a solid mid-range smartphone, the Windows Phone 8-based Nokia Lumia 810 is totally free this Cyber Monday, well expect for the price of being locked into T-Mobile’s network for two years, that is. If you are willing to put a little bit of cash down up front from something even more powerful, the HTC 8x is also on offer for just $100, which you will get back via an $100 mail-in rebate.

Beyond these great Windows Phone 8 deals, there also great deals on Windows Phone 7, Android and Blackberry handsets. Handsets like the Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 are offering mail-in rebates that help make the devices even cheaper. Several Android-based tablets are also on offer at extremely low pricing or even free with rebates, for example the Samsung Galaxy Note Tab 2 10.1 is free after a $200 mail-in offer.

What do you think, are you tempted to make the switch to T-Mobile today thanks to these great offers? In contrast, is there another Cyber Monday carrier deal that seems more interesting to you?

A new video review from PocketNow has arrived comparing the Nokia Lumia 920 versus the HTC 8X. While many of us tend to prefer the Nokia Lumia line to what HTC has to offer, HTC 8X is a solid phone that certainly might appeal to some of us that aren’t interested in the Nokia Lumia 920.

It will likely come down to your own preferences here. HTC 8X is lighter, but not everyone is going to love its 16:9 aspect ratio. As far as build quality and overall performance, the Nokia Lumia 920 is very hard to beat and has a superb camera. One thing the HTC 8x really has going for it in the United States is that you aren’t stuck with AT&T, unlike the Nokia Lumia 920.

Anyhow, take a look at the PocketNow video:

So which Windows 8 phone seems like the right choice for you? Perhaps you are more interested in the Lumia 820 or 822, or even what Samsung offers?

The smartphone world is becoming an increasingly crowded place, so you have to wonder, can Microsoft really compete with Windows Phone 8? While it is too early to say for sure, great marketing and aggressive pricing will certainly help if Microsoft and its partners want to win consumers over. Luckily, AT&T seems to be doing just that with the Nokia 920 and HTC 8x.

Both of these devices are premium handsets, even if they aren’t quite ‘quad-core’ they are highly optimized and should run pretty close to on par with some of the more expensive Android handsets out there. The performance level should also not be too far off from devices like the Apple iPhone 5. So what kind of price is AT&T shooting for? Just $100.

The Lumia 920 is available for preorder starting on November 7th and comes with 32GB of storage space. As for the HTC8x, it has less space for $100 at just 8GB, but that’s still a pretty fair price. Both phones have various models that have several different size configurations.

Seriously considering Windows Phone 8 but want something even more affordable? The mid-range Nokia 820 will set you back just $50 with a two year contract. While it might not be a high-end system, it is still very aggressively priced.
While Windows Phone 8 isn’t likely going to dethrone iOS and Android, it could certainly cement Microsoft’s place as third place contender. What do you think of Windows Phone 8 so far? Interested or not?

Earlier today we reported on the leaked HTC 8x, now comes yet another Windows Phone 8 device- this time by Nokia. Windows Phone is far from the leader of the mobile market, but WP8 has recently started to get more and more attention focused on it as of late.

When it comes to WP devices, Nokia has certainly emerged as the de facto leader, pushing the WP standard to the highest level possible. The new Nokia Lumia 920 will likely not be any different. We don’t know tons about the upcoming phone yet, but we do have a little information about the hardware involved.

The Lumia 920 will feature a 4.5-inch screen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, wireless charging, 1GB of RAM and 32GB of storage memory. The camera on the new 920 is also part of their PureView line. For those that don’t remember, the most powerful PureView device features an impressive 41MP lens. The Lumia 920 certainly doesn’t go that far, but it does feature an 8MP back cam and 1.3MP front cam.

Between a reasonably powerful camera and the wireless charging features, the Lumia 920 sounds rather impressive. The dual-core might not sound like much, considering Android devices now have quad-core power, but this can be deceiving. Windows Phone 7 was optimized in a way that its single-core hardware ran just as capably as the dual-core Android phones. If this holds true with WP8, a dual-core might run better than you’d guess.

What do you think, interested in getting your hands on the Lumia 920? For the moment, the new handset is yet to be officially announced, but its likely on a matter of time.

HTC might not be doing nearly as well as it used to, but that hasn’t stopped it from producing new products. First there was a rumor of a new HTC tablet, now it looks like a Windows Phone 8 device is in the works from the company.

The new phone is rumored to go by the name HTC 8x. What do we actually know about it? The HTC 8X will have WP8, an 8MP camera, NFC, microSD and a 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 display. Beyond that? We don’t honestly know much else about the new phone.

Based on the mock-picture, the new phone also looks to have a notification LED and seems to have a look that clearly fits with other Windows Phone devices. From the curves of the smartphones to the software, you have to admit that MS certainly does things differently.

While Android devices, especially those from Samsung, constantly get flack for being “too much like Apple”- you don’t have to worry about that with WP8 products. Love them or hate them, Windows Phone devices clearly have gone down their own path.

What do you think, would you buy an HTC WP8 smartphone? Or are you more interested in a Nokia or Samsung offering?
