They also use it on their iPhones. Well, it seems that BlackBerry could be joining the owl-themed team too. In an update newsletter sent out this week, the HootSuite team revealed that they’re working on a Twitter client for the BlackBerry platform too. It’s not even in beta yet, but you can sign up for early access.

Twitter is a pretty big deal and going through the mobile site just isn’t satisfying enough for most power users these days. We want the ability to Twitpic, shorten URLs, share links, retweet, follow new tweeps, and more. It’s only through a suitably powerful app, like HootSuite, that we can do that. On a related note, the HootSuite team says that they have updated an iOS4 version of the app for the iPhone 4. The updated version gives you Foursqure integration, font re-sizing, and support for that whole iOS4 app-switching thing. It’s not quite multi-tasking, but it’s pretty darn close.

Twitter really has become the hottest thing since sliced bread and it shows. For just about every smartphone platform, you’ll find a wide range of Twitter clients that go above and beyond the mobile site. Owners of Android phones now have another option with the porting of HootSuite.

What started out as a web-based Twitter client to be used on your computer, HootSuite has since gone on to infiltrate the Apple iPhone and now Google Android as well. Feel free to communicate with your friends on the go, TwitPic’ing everything along the way.

There are two versions of this app available for download. HootSuite Lite for Android is the free option and it allows for up to three Twitter accounts. You can create custom views for tags and searches, schedule tweets for the future, share photos, shorten URLs, and more.

The paid version is appropriately called HootSuite for Android and it allows for unlimited Twitter accounts and integrated click-through statistics tracking. Other highlights for both versions include background notifications, list support, and more.

More information can be found at HootSuite.com and the download, as expected, can be found in Android Market on your phone or by scanning the QR code below with your Android-powered handset.
