And you may have also noticed that the features on in-car entertainment systems are starting to look pretty smart too and that’s why GM is prepared to expand that with an in-car app store.

The device, which is also known as Robo-Glove or K-Glove, is the result of the collaboration between GM and NASA and has been developed to help astronauts and autoworkers stay away from stress injuries.

Cadillac ELR plug-in luxury hybrid coupe based on Chevy Volt

GM isn’t going to leave the Volt platform alone, because they’ve just announced the Cadillac ELR. This Caddy uses the same underpinnings as the Volt, but they’ve made it distinctly more performance oriented and with more of a luxury spin. It’s apparently based on the Converj concept car and its powerplant combines a four cylinder engine and a T-shaped lithium ion battery pack, the latter of which is the primary source of power.

GM to stimulate electric car market with a handful of new models

If you’re an American looking to trade in your car this year and are considering making the switch to electric, you might want to hold off for the time being. According to a statement made by GM’s chief executive Daniel F. Akerson, there’s going to be a lot more options on the U.S. market in a couple years.

GM prices Chevy Volt electric car at $41,000, $31,500 after rebate

GM has announced the price of the Chevy Volt electric car, the first mass-produced EV to hit the streets of America (since the EV1, but that wasn’t mass-produced, just mass-acred) will cost $41,000. The US Government is giving a $7,500 credit, so this would take the EV’s price down to $33,500. This price is just about in the middle of the range that was expected; although at the pre-rebate, not post-rebate price.

Lunch Break Video: A look back at GM’s Hy Wire car of the future

Electric motors drive the wheels, hydrogen from a tank combines with oxygen from the air and creates electricity. It has its own on-board power station that’s got so much juice you could run your entire street off of it. The steering wheel is more akin to a video game system, with a pressure sensitive gripping system on the steering handles and an LCD screen embedded in the steering wheel itself. A huge front windshield lets you see almost everything. GM expects us to be driving these in 20 years.
