Faster search and improved loading times aren't the only improvements found in Flipboard 2.0. Now you can read, curate and share virtual magazine creations.

The post Flipboard 2.0 for iOS Lets You Become an Editor appeared first on Mobile Magazine.

Flipboard is a great app to have on your iPad. The app allows you to add content from your favorite feeds and converts it all in to a great looking magazine. While the function and form of the app is great, it was a little limited in what it would allow you to do. Enter Flipboard 2.0.

The latest version of Flipboard is now designed to allow users to create their own virtual magazines using content from various sources. You can then name your E-zine how you like, add a description and even allow it to be viewed publicly. Other feature updates include better search and faster loading of images along with smoother transitions.

Have you tried out the latest version of Flipboard yet? If so, what do you think?

The Android app Flipboard was officially launched in May of this year, and while it was fine for smartphone users, it left those with a tablet wanting more. On a tablet, Flipboard just had the typical blown up design, which made using the app frustrating at best. Users were forced to flip through huge text and giant tiles in an attempt to use the app.

Today all of that will be changing with a new version of the app being released that supports 7 inch and 10 inch tablets. The update makes the tiles properly sized and proportioned and you can see multiples stories at once. If you are already used to it, you can switch the app back to phone mode. The app is free and available now at the Google Play Store.

Do the blown up phone apps frustrate you on your tablet, or is it just the nature of the beast for good content?

Popular social news reader, Flipboard, has now made its way over to Android after a short beta period. The new app features Youtube and Google+ integration across platforms alongside the other standard features you’d expect from Flipboard. Back in May, Flipboard was first shown off running on Android via the Galaxy S III. Now Samsung and Flipboard will be working together to include the app and a homescreen widget.

Using Flipboard on Youtube and Google+ pulls your subscription infromation and allows you to comment on posts, share, and like directly inside the app, which is great since many news reader apps don’t allow commenting from within the app. Many are favorably calling out Flipboard’s Google+ experience as better than what you’ll find using the official Google+ Android apps, and for those that managed to get their hands on the Beta, this version is largely the same, just more polished. You can get your hands on the app from iTunes App Store, the Google Play Store, Barnes & Noble’s NOOK Store, Amazon’s Appstore for Android, and Samsung Apps. Flipboard is a great reader that now is available on two of the biggest mobile platforms out there, but for now Windows Phone users remain without their own version. If Windows Phone 8 picks up steam though, this could change eventually.

There’s so much content on the web that you want to follow, so it’s important that you have an effective and visually-appealing way to consume all of that. Sure, you could look into Pulse and Flipboard, but iPad owners now have another option called Evri for iPad.

Pronounced like “every,” Evri is an app that aggregates the various news sources from the around the Internet, as well as stuff happening in the social sphere. This way, you can check out what your friends are sharing on Twitter and Facebook, for example, as well as follow current trending topics and the like. It’s a “topic-based newsreader.”

I have to admit that the UI is pretty nice with the appearnace of stacked Polaroids for various topics. The early reviews look good too. You can get it via iTunes now.
