Looking to get your hands on the new LG Nexus 4? Ebay has made that a little harder by placing some new restrictions on the sale of the new Nexus 4.

The post Ebay Restricting Sales on LG Nexus 4 appeared first on Mobile Magazine.

Looking to get your hands on the new LG Nexus 4 through Ebay, or even sell one yourself? Responding to the recent door busting sales of the phone, Ebay is attempting to prevent fraudulent sales by restricting the number of units everyone but Authorized Resellers can list.

The message to sellers reads:

ATTENTION SELLERS: LIST YOUR GOOGLE NEXUS 4 NOW AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF BUYER DEMAND

The launch of the Google Nexus 4 is underway, so now’s a great time to list these highly anticipated devices. Follow these guidelines for listing the Google Nexus 4 and take advantage of strong buyer demand.Google Nexus 4 Product Post-Launch Sales You may list a Google Nexus 4 with some limitations:

Authorized resellers will be allowed to list an unlimited number of items per week.

eBay Top Rated Sellers will be allowed to list up to 8 items per week.

All sellers meeting minimum performance standards will be allowed to list 4 items per week.

New sellers who’ve confirmed their personal information may list 1 item per week.

Note: Sellers not meeting minimum performance standards or that haven’t confirmed their personal information will not be allowed to list the Google Nexus 4 during the post-launch sale period.

So what does all this mean? Basically that Ebay stocks of the LG Nexus 4 might be somewhat limited and selling the device might be harder for newer Ebay users. Of course you could always just wait the 8-9 week shipping time for the Nexus 4 through Google Play, which is probably going to be the most affordable route. If you want it now? Ebay might be a good source, but expect to pay quite a bit more as well.

[ source ]

How much would you be willing to pay for obsolete technology that doesn’t hold a candle to today’s gear? A few bucks? Maybe nothing, right? If so, you certainly aren’t an ambitious collector with money to burn. Recently two sellers put up an original, first-gen iPhone in factory-sealed glory at the massive price of $10,000.

There is little arguing about how significant the iPhone has been to the evolution of the smartphone market, though $10,000 is a lot to spend for most of us. As of now there have been no bids on either item, both with buy-it-now prices of $10,000 and with one having a minimum starting bid of $2,000, though they are both from reputable sellers.

With many days to go, it’s hard to say how high these could possibly go. So, here is the question, how much would you be willing to pay for an iconic piece of electronic history? Before you think that this is crazy (which it arguably is), you’d be surprised how much people will pay for stamps, small coins, and other seemingly plain items. With collectors they don’t look at it as just buying the item, they are buying the history and the bragging rights of having a piece of it. Would I ever spend such sums, even if I were a millionaire, on something like this? No way, but to each their own.

Riding around in a go-kart is already pretty fun, but what if you could reach speeds of over 100 miles an hour with a custom jet-powered go-kart? Thanks to Seth Kettleman, you can.

He’s a surplus aircraft parts dealer and he has already put together a couple of custom creations. He had a jet-powered Batmobile replica, for instance, as well as a jet-powered Datsun 280ZX. His latest creation is even more ambitious, because the jet-powered go-kart is so much smaller. This makes for potentially a much more exhilarating ride.

The custom go-kart is powered by a reclaimed Boeing 502-7 gas turbine engine, producing over 200 pounds of thrust. “The kart’s performance is absolutely amazing,” says Kettleman. “It’s so light and when that Boeing breaths, it takes your breath away … The low ground clearance and center of gravity makes it one with the road. The seating position and butterfly steering wheel start to make you think that you are piloting a fighter jet.”

And if going over 100mph isn’t enough for you, Kettleman is considering adding an afterburner for some flaming good fun, as well as a new exhaust nozzle for an even higher top speed. The custom jet-powered go-kart ultimately went for $8,100 on eBay. Given Kettleman’s history, it’s only a matter of time before we see another jet-powered beast.

I wouldn’t say that I use it terribly often, but Google Goggles is an amazing little app. I take a picture of something — almost anything — and it will recognize what it is. If it’s a product, I can then do a quick online search for reviews and pricing information. eBay wants to do the same thing with its mobile apps.

eBay CEO John Donahoe announced at the Innovate eBay new developer conference that the company plans on rolling out image recognition technology in is mobile offerings before the end of the year. Once again, the core concept mirrors that of Google Goggles. You’re out in the world, you take a picture of something you want, and the eBay app starts searching through its online marketplace for similar products that you can bid on and buy.

Since this is eBay, the image search will be geared more toward buying products and related products. As such, snapping pictures of clothing and furniture may work a heck of a lot better (assuming they’ve got the algorithm nailed down) than with Google Goggles. The latter doesn’t recognize apparel all that well, for instance.

In order to connect to the internet when not near a Wi-Fi area, Mac users would need to have a separate Mi-Fi or a 3G USB Modem, not a super big deal. But an integrated 3G cellular modem would change things for the better, since it would be an out of the box solution.

The auction featured a MacBook Pro Santa Rosa, dating back to 2007 with a 3G antenna, 3G hardware and SIM card slot to be purchased “for parts” from an eBay seller who claims to have got if off Craigslist. The seller, who was able to re-assemble and get the macbook into operating condition says the data connection isn’t operable, although it is seen by the operating system.

It’s been four years since this prototype has been created and so far, no sign of integrated 3G Mac. The auction was pulled after it reached $30,000 USD and possibly received complaints from Apple.

The eBay auction of an old, tattered antique camera closed Friday for $104,000. The 55-year-old Leica MP-36 camera was once the property of famous Swedish photojournalist Leif Engberg, who’s covered (among others) the Soviet invasion in Czeckoslovakia 1968, the war in Vietnam, the civil war in Biafra, the war between India and Pakistan over East Pakistan (Bangladesh), conflicts in Eritrea, Ethiopia, South Africa, Central and South America, Balkan regions and the Middle East.

Only 138 black versions of this Leica MP were produced between 1956 – 57, and though it differed only slightly from the M3 model, was designed specifically for photojournalists. Not to mention the camera included a Summicron 2/5cm no.1474879 lens and matching Leicavit MP rapid trigger-wind.

A good deal? Depends on what you’re into, I guess. Personally, paying the cost of a starter house for a camera is absurd to me regardless of what the lens has seen. That said, it’s a hell of a conversation piece for the unnamed buyer.

It’s not exactly the most novel idea, but neither were touchscreen phones when the iPhone first emerged. Look where that led us. It seems that the folks at eBay want to do a little something for the environment, so they’ve launched a new gadget recycling program that puts a little extra spending money in your pocket.

It started out as Resell, Re-use, Recycle, but it has since taken on a much simpler name: eBay Instant Sale. The idea is that you go to the eBay Instant website, plug in some basic information about the gadget you no longer need, and it’ll pump out a dollar value.

Should you choose to accept the value, you can print out the free shipping label and bid adieu to your Motorola RAZR and your Canon A60 digital camera. About a week or so later, the money shows up in your PayPal account for your spending pleasure (presumably back on eBay).

I’d imagine that the sale values for your old gadgets wouldn’t be all that much money, but it’s better than nothing. They’ll even take your $0 value items, providing you with the same free shipping label. Makes you wonder what they do with this gadgetry afterwards? Is eBay looking for a cheap way to build Skynet using last year’s technology?

eBay today announced the release of two new free apps for the Apple iPhone. The first app is a seller tool, it will allow members to easily snap a photo of a product on their iPhone camera, enter some basic auction information, and list it on the eBay marketplace. Their second app is a bit of a stab at Craigslist, as it's the new eBay Classifieds application. This one lets you post free ads on the eBayClassifieds.com website for local buyers.

And don't forget, with the recent release of the PayPal mobile app, you can quickly pay for your items from either eBay site.
