Colorware already charges huge fees to paint up your electronic gadgetry in a range of different colors, but it looks like they want to sell physical products on their own too. The first of these is the Grip for iPad. Check it out; it’s exactly what you think it is.

The Grip for iPad is a protective case, but unlike all the other cases that pretty much just wrap up your tablet, the Grip adds a little handle on the side too. Presumably, this handle makes the iPad easier for you to hold, but I imagine it could get in the way of two-handing the virtual keyboard.

There are three versions of the case, but they’re all basically the same. It’s just about fit. There’s one for the Colorware-painted Gloss iPad, Colorware-painted Softtouch iPad, and an iPad that hasn’t been Colorware-painted at all.

As can be expected with just about anything with the Colorware name, the Grip for iPad is anything but inexpensive. Expect to drop about $300 on this thing, but don’t expect much in terms of actual protection.

If you go over to the Colorware website, you'll see that they are now painting iPads at will. As before, you don't get anything extra in terms of specs, features, or performance, but you can stand out from the crowd with a vividly colored iPad.

The blue and yellow scheme featured looks pretty good, I'd say, but I'm thinking that going with a red iPad could just spur on an increasingly overwhelming number of immature jokes about feminine hygiene.

The post Apple iPad gets added to the ColorWare collection appeared first on Mobile Magazine.

From what I hear, the colorful ColorWare iPad chimes in at a $400 premium over the vanilla silver one you get from Apple. It’s not just regular paint, though, since Colorware says that it uses a custom Softouch finish for a more comfortable mobile surfing experience. An expensive luxury your eyes may appreciate.

Most cell phone geeks are already familiar with the Colorware service. In a nutshell, you ship your treasured handset (they also do notebooks and other gadgetry) over to their warehouse and they’ll outfit it with a fancy paint job featuring just about any color that you can imagine. The trouble with this service, up until now, is that you have to go without your phone for however long this process takes. That’s changing, at least for one of the phones.

The good folks at Colorware have now announced that you can order just the parts for the BlackBerry Curve 8900. This way, you don’t have to buy a brand new device from them and you don’t have to send your phone over to them either. Instead, you’ll get a package in the mail with your custom housing.

The bad news, as you can imagine, is that you’re going to be responsible for the installation process and any mistakes you make along the way will be utterly in your hands. They’ll give you instructions, presumably, but if you’ve never replaced housing before, you may be looking at a mild headache or three.

Oh and if you’re hoping to save some money with the parts-only service from Colorware, you should still prepare yourself for a fairly substantial financial hit. Pricing for parts-only still starts at $159. Presumably, this parts-only option will be extended to some other phones in the near future.

Maybe you’re a big fan of Apple products. Maybe you really like Mac OS X. However, you might not be quite as big a fan of that aluminum unibody look. Well, the kindly folks at Colorware just may have the ticket for you in the form of the Stealth MacBook Pro.

As you can quite plainly see from the picture provided, the single greatest differentiating feature on the Stealth MacBook Pro compared to a garden variety Apple laptop is the all-black color scheme.

Before the MacBook went to aluminum, we used to choose between having white or black with the latter coming at a $100 premium. This time around, you’d better be prepared to fork over more than a $100 premium.

In terms of features, Colorware took a fairly standard MacBook Pro, though it is closer to the top of the range. You get a 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 8GB of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM, 15-inch matte widescreen display, and a 256GB solid state drive. The smooth-textured, zero gloss black finish completes the drool factor.

So, how much does it cost? The asking price from Colorware for the Stealth MacBook Pro is $5,999. Since they’re only making ten of these, however, there’s a good chance that you won’t be able to buy it at that price even if you wanted to.
