Apple iPhone 4 reception problem to be fixed with “software update”

iphone4-signal

“You’re holding it wrong” doesn’t really qualify as a suitable fix for the reception issues on the new iPhone 4, so Apple has finally come forth to admit it’s a real problem. The Cupertino crew are also saying that they’re going to fix it, through a software update. Apple’s official press release claims the reception issues are not a hardware problem; they have to do with the software. As such, they’re working on a fix and this software update will be pushed out some time soon.

Apple sells 600,000 iPhone 4 units on launch day

Apple sold 600,000 iPhone 4 units during a pre-order blitz yesterday

AT&T put the breaks on pre-orders for the Apple iPhone 4 yesterday. Apple managed to sell 600,000 units on launch day demolishing iPhone 3GS pre-orders ten fold. Due to the large number of people rushing the websites, a few things got bogged down and many users couldn’t get their pre-order in. So it’s possible Apple could have broken the 1 million mark if they were able to handle the traffic.

AT&T slams hacker group responsible for “malicious” attack

att-cracked

The group replied last week saying it exposed the security flaw to inform and protect consumers, and refused to make public their discoveries until AT&T repaired the issue. In response to the FBI’s claim that they’ve begun investigating the incident, the hacker organization said simply, “We did not try to hack your iPads, your iPads are safer now because of us”. They also noted that all findings have been destroyed by both the hackers and Gawker Media’s Valleywag website who received the data from them.

$130 HTC Aria gets Android 2.1, on AT&T June 20

att-htc-aria1

Up until now, if you were looking at Android phones, but in on an AT&T contract your choices were pretty slim. You could go for the Motorola Backflip, or a reincarnation of Dell’s Mini 3, the Dell Aero. Today the Aria enters the Android line expanding AT&T’s offerings with another mid-level phone. The soon-to-be iPhone 4 carrier has been pretty hesitant to pick up any high-end Android smartphones that could compete with the Apple’s devices.

AT&T to lose iPhone 4 exclusivity in 6 months?

att-iphone4-chart

I’m just as tired as you are about hearing that Verizon or Sprint is going to get the iPhone 4. The rumor has been going on for quite some time. Even with the Wall Street Journal reporting on it, there hasn’t been a whole lot to back that up, until now. What AT&T is calling “another very exciting day for customers,” could be a ploy to lock you in to another contract. With the iPhone 4 release, new plans from the exclusive carrier were announced offering current iPhone owners the option to upgrade early; the clincher, you are with them for another 2 years.

AT&T launches Pantech Link QWERTY phone for ten bucks

Pantech Link on AT&T

You don’t see too many Pantech phones around these parts anymore, but the Korean electronics maker is still around and it’s got a new handset for all the budget-minded texters in the audience. It has just been announced that the Pantech Link will be heading to AT&T and it’s going to be a bargain.
While its outward appearance may lead you to believe that it’s a smartphone of some kind, the Pantech Link is probably better classified as a feature or messaging phone. There’s a full QWERTY keyboard on this “quick messaging phone” and it measures under 10mm in thickness.
