At the moment no official delivery date has been set for the general public but certified testers who signed up for a pre-release are now getting the first taste of Jelly Bean on their Xoom tablets.

It’s official, smartphones have moved beyond the toys of the wealthy, nerdy or business elite- though this probably isn’t shocking news to anyone. According to information from Nielson, 53% of consumers in the US are purchasing smartphones, and 2 out of 3 new phones purchased last month in the United States were of the smart variety.

VLC Player Finally Coming To Android Soon?

When it comes to playing video files, there is one tool that is up to the job even if all other media players have refused to play it, and that’s VLC. On the mobile side though, VLC has been in active development since what seems like the beginning of time. From alpha builds and beyond, little has been said other than we know it is eventually coming to Android. While we still don’t know much about when the media player is making its way to Android, we do have a hint in the form of a simple Twitter post from the developers.

Google 7-Inch Tablet PC Appearing In June?

It seems that Google’s 7-inch tablet PC is schedule for a full release in July, with an initial batch of 600,000 units shipping as early as June. According to the information cited, supposedly from sources within the supply chain, Asus is co-developing the device and the entry-level tablet will be around $200 or less.
