If you’re an Android app developer, Google has a very handy tool for you called Android Dashboard. The tool has been around for a number of years already and is designed to help developers target their apps based on the active users using a certain Android version.

Originally the statistical data collected by Android dashboard was based on a device pinging Google servers, but a new update to the system hopes to make things a lot more accurate. Now, stats are only collected on those Android devices which log in to Google’s Play app store. This give a more accurate view of active users so developers can concentrate their efforts more effectively.

Since the update, a jump in the number of active users running Android Jelly Bean has been recorded while active Froyo and Gingerbread stats have dropped.

It looks Android 4.2.2 is starting to roll out to Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10. The update was first reported to Reddit, and it seems that the update is all about “performance and stability” fixes.

What kind of performance updates? One user says that it improved his Bluetooth ability in his car, stating it had “much less hicups when streaming Rdio or Gmusic, but still not perfect”. This is good news though, as Bluetooth A2DP problems are a common issue for Android 4.2 users, so any improvement to this situation is welcome.

The update is moderately sized at a little over 46MB. So when is it coming to you? Hard to say. It will more than likely roll out in waves, and hopefully will make its way to the Nexus 4 soon as well.

If you have a Galaxy Nexus and don’t want to wait, there is an OTA Android 4.2.2 update file that can be manually downloaded instead.

Archos might not be the most exciting tablet maker around, but it is one of the most affordable. The budget maker is constantly churning out new Android devices so the announcement of four new tablets at CES this year is less than surprising.

The new “Titanium” line is made up of four devices that all have IPS capacitive multi-touch displays with dual-core 1.6GHz CPUs and quad-core GPUs running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The big difference in the line is the screen size, which starts at $119 for a 7-incher up to $199 for a 10.1-incher.

As you probably already guessed, there is no actual titanium involved in the line, the name instead refers to their “strong” specs considering their price tags.

A dual-core 1.6GHz Android tablet with a 10.1-inch screen for $200 certainly sounds impressive, but many times Archos tablets sound better on paper than what you actually get when you see and test them in person. Still, it’s hard to beat the low-pricing on this line up. For more details, check out the press release below.

The ARCHOS 80 titanium (8 inches), priced at 169€, $169, £149 has been designed to offer similar user experience as the iPad mini, for a fraction of the price.

The ARCHOS 101 titanium (10.1 inches), priced at 199€, $199, £169, is around 30 per cent cheaper than competition with comparable features.

Looking for extra protection for your LG Nexus 4? Perhaps you are afraid of scuffing the sides of your beautiful new flagship smartphone? You’ll be happy to know that the LG Nexus 4 bumper case is back in stock at the Google Play store, allow it appears to only be back for those in the United States.

This side bumper doesn’t cover the back, but it does manage to add a little extra protection for your new investment. Additionally, the color styling is two-tone just like the LG Nexus 4 and looks brilliant. Not to mention, it isn’t a thick bumper so it doesn’t look tacky or add much bulk to your smartphone.

For those interested, it is just $19.99. You better move on this one quickly, as last time around the LG Nexus 4 bumper sold out in just a few minutes. So far, it has been online for a while now, but there is certainly no guaranteeing it will be there tomorrow. If stock is low like last time, you can pretty much bet that there will be some “enterprising” individuals that will snag up a few of these with intentions to sell them on Ebay or elsewhere.

Do you already an official LG Nexus 4 bumper? If so, do you feel like it was worth the purchase or not?

UPDATE: Looks like the bumpers are once again out of stock. Did you get yours ordered this time around?

While few handsets have even received the first taste of Jelly Bean with Android 4.1, the Nexus crowd not only has Android 4.2 but seems to be getting an update in the form of Android 4.2.1 today. The update is said to be arriving for Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 for sure, though there have been reports from Nexus 7 owners that they are getting the update as well.

Okay, so Android 4.2.1 isn’t exactly an epic update at only 1.1MB. Is there anything to get excited about here? If you like December maybe. It seems that the December bug that made it impossible to save birthday or anniversary events in the People app is now fixed. The update is also said to address some reported Bluetooth issues on Nexus products.

Did you get the update today? Anything noticeable in that tiny little update, or was it pretty much just a minor fix for the calendars and Bluetooth issues?

Earlier this month, we heard rumors that Google had selected Asus to be the manufacturer of the upcoming Google Nexus Tablet, but we thought the target price would be the same $199 as the current Kindle Fire. As it turns out, Google could be looking to be even more aggressive with its pricing for the Nexus Tablet, getting it down as low as $149. That significantly undercuts just about everyone else in the market, aside from the really cheap (read: not so good) Android tablets that are already out there.

It’s pretty much a done deal that the Nexus Tablet will be of the seven-inch variety and it could largely similar to the Asus MeMo 370T, but we had previously heard inklings that it would be powered by the new NVIDIA Tegra3 quad-core processor. In order to achieve the $149 target price, though, it’s said that Google will scrap that idea for a much less expensive dual core processor, possibly a Snapdragon unit from Qualcomm. Even so, they’re promising a “tablet of the highest quality,” whatever that means.

For now, it seems that the so-called Nexus Tablet could make its official debut at CTIA Wireless in New Orleans. That takes place from May 8 to May 10, which is less than two months away. Considering that Nexus devices are usually used as launching points for new versions of Android, it’s also possible that Jelly Bean (Android 4.1? Android 5.0?) could make its debut at the same time, though a Jelly Bean reveal at Google IO on June 27-29 could prove to be more likely.
