The new ‘unlimited’ data plans from T-Mobile

The new T-Mobile “Value” plans will be made available on July 24 and the idea is that you can get access to T-Mobile’s 4G network (let’s not open the whole “what is 4G?” can of worms again) in a “more affordable” way. They say that these plans offer “unlimited data” but then they immediately say that they come with “2GB, 5GB, or 10GB of high-speed data — with no data overage charges.”

Sprint To Compete Against Isis: NFC In 2011, Google Bank?

NFC capable devices are ramping up and soon you will be able to wave your mobile at a teller to complete a purchase of goods. Sprint, the third largest wireless carrier in the US, has told Bloomberg they plan to beat AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon to the NFC game by launching as early as this year.

AT&T to Buy T-Mobile, Creating Pentaband Network?

Late yesterday, news broke out that AT&T is going to acquire T-Mobile. This is still pending the approval of the FCC and other governing bodies, but if it does indeed go ahead, it has to be the biggest deal in American cellular phone history. After all, it will create for a virtual duopology: the new amalgamated AT&T/T-Mobile combo will compete primarily against Verizon, leaving Sprint way in the background.

Dual-core HTC Pyramid superphone coming May 2011

So it seems that rumors are floating around about HTC releasing the first dual-core Android smartphone. It’s codenamed Pyramid, and it will feature a dual-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor (MSM8260), 4.3 inch qHD display and support for HSPA+ networks. The device has been picked up by T-Mobile and has a target release date of May 2011.

JD Power: T-Mobile has the best customer service (again)

If you want to be happy when you dial 611 on your cell phone, it looks like Old Magenta is your best bet. JD Power and Associates just released its 2011 Wireless Customer Care Performance Study and T-Mobile came out on top. This is the second year in a row that T-Mo came in first.
