Canon is giving us a taste of the future with their latest creations shown at the Canon Expo 2010 in New York. They’ve created a monster 50 Megapixel shooter that can capture colors that the human eye cannot see. I’m guessing we just have to take their word for it. The CMOS sensor has six color filters mounted over top of it, it’s a single shot shooter with not much really to look at.

Next on the concept block is a 4K camcorder that shoots 60 frames per second with a single 8 megapixel 2/3-inch CMOS sensor. It weighs 5.5 pounds and has the look of a photo laser gun. The fixed 24-480mm lens is akin to a 20x optical zoom with aperture settings from f1.8 to f3.8, powered by a “new fully electronically-controlled lens drive system.” The plastic design is bio-based, replacing that of petro-chemical, making it a semi-green multipurpose camera.

Don’t get your hopes up to high, Canon probably won’t be making this anytime soon either.
