Not the best of names, but the Sthreeam dongle is a kickstarter project that adds a second imaging sensor to your iPhone. Why would you wan’t a second camera on your iPhone? To record in 3D of course. So basically, it’s a project in the early concept stage. But once funded, the Sthreeam will be put to production and the resulting dongle will let you take 3D photos and 3D video from your iPhone 4 device. The Sthreeam 3.2 is for the iPhone 3G and only captures 3D photographs. You will need anaglyphic glasses, or 3DTVs with active shutter shades to watch the 3D video. And you will only be recording video in VGA at 30fps, so it won’t be the greatest of quality, but hey, it’s 3D.

The team needs $50,000 of your crowd-sourced dollars to fire up the Sthreeam production line.

It looks like the Nintendo 3DS has started a craze toward glasses-free 3D. Or at least it has added substantially to it. Following in those eye-popping footsteps is the LG Optimus 3D, which is set to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2011 later this month.

LG is touting the device as the world’s first full 3D smartphone. This not includes the glasses-free 3D display, which will presumably use similar stereoscopic tech as the 3DS, but also a dual-lens camera in the back for taking 3D pictures (and probably videos too).

The leaked photo shown here, which comes to us by way of Phandroid, isn’t really confirmed, but it’s a reasonable assumption for what the final product will look like.

I’m still not really sold on this whole 3D thing just yet and I imagine the 3D creation with the Optimus 3D won’t be as good as Avatar (just like how most cameraphones aren’t as good as “real” cameras”), but this is a bold leap. Life’s good? We’ll find out soon enough. So much for the Optimus 2X and Optimus Black, eh?

Samsung today launched a 3D-capable portable Blu-ray player, this sucker will play 1080p on its 10.3-inch screen, but don’t go putting on those 3D glasses just yet.

Although it is 3D-capable, it is only capable of outputting 3D. Mobile displays have yet to enter the 3D arena just yet, and Samsung’s BD-C8000 is only meant for outputting 3D to a capable 3DTV. Battery life is only rated at 3 hours, let’s hope that rating is accurate and we’ll at least get to watch a feature length flick. The little player has built-in Wi-Fi and HDMI, and it’s priced at $500, but selling for $449 on Amazon.
