You know, Verizon Wireless has been pretty good with the Google Android thing and that trend is continuing with the upcoming launch of the HTC Rezound. Set for release on November 14, this phone follows on the success of devices like the Droid Incredible and it packs a few extra surprises to set it apart from the pack.

Maybe you don’t want the Motorola Droid RAZR. That’s fine, because the Rezound packs a wallop. For starters, it’s one of the few phones that uses HTC’s Beats Audio technology. What’s more, it rocks out with support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network and gets more than enough juice by way of the 1.5GHz dual core processor.

The 4.3-inch touchscreen display may look like its par for the superphone course, but you get a 1280×720 pixel HD resolution on here. That’s the same as the Nexus Galaxy. While it ships with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the Rezound will be getting a tasty upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich in “early” 2012. Rounding out the specs are the 1GB of RAM, bundled Beats headphones, 16GB internal memory, GPS/aGPS, and Bluetooth 3.0. Expect to pay $299.99 on a two-year agreement.

I thought the vanilla version of the Samsung Galaxy S II was already pretty incredible, but it looks like things just got a little faster and a little bigger. Improving on the original SGS2 is the upgraded Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, an Android smartphone bound for AT&T’s recently expanded LTE network.

The addition of LTE is likely the biggest upgrade that you’ll notice on the slightly altered version of the SGS2. Beyond the compatibility with AT&T’s LTE network, the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket also comes with an upgraded processor. The original 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos was already impressive, but this phone gets a 1.5GHz dual-core processor instead. The screen has also grown to a 4.5-inch (800×480) Super AMOLED Plus display.

Many of the other standard features make their encore appearance, including the great 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, and 16GB of internal storage. There’s the microSD slot and it’ll ship with the newer Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread operating system. Sign up for a two-year prison term LTE service agreement with AT&T and you can get the Skyrocket for $249.

Back in June, we reported on the Google Nexus Prime and how this third iteration in the Nexus line would bring several quantum leaps to the Android ecosystem. Now, many of those rumors are getting substantiated and backed up by way of a new report from Electronic Times of Korea.

The report echoes what we had heard before. The Google Nexus Prime will be the first Android smartphone to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (sometimes referred to as 2.4), a blended OS that’s supposed to bridge the gap between smartphone (currently up to 2.3 Gingerbread) and tablet (currently up to 3.2 Honeycomb). The report also confirms the presence of a super speedy 1.5GHz processor, possibly by way of Qualcomm.

And this is going to be superphone-sized with its 4.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED HD display with a PenTile layout. With such a large screen, high resolution, and high-speed processor, you’ve got to have a concern or two about battery. Given the Super AMOLED, it’s safe to assume that this is going to be Samsung-produced device, much like the current Nexus S. I guess it won’t be until the fourth Nexus that we’ll see a Motorola-sourced smartphone bearing the “official Google phone” moniker.

Look for the Nexus Prime this October, alongside that other phone from that other guy.

It was back in June that we caught our first glimpse of the two Archos G9 Android tablets. We knew about the 250GB hard drive and the Honeycomb under the hood. We were also told about price points and launch windows, but some of that information has now shifted.

The 8-inch Archos 80 G9 was originally slated to have a starting price of $279, but that has now increased to a starting price of $299.99. It’s not a huge jump, to be sure, and it still puts the G9 below a good number of competitors. You still get the speedy 1.5GHz dual core TI OMAP4 processor, after all, which is still faster than most of the mobile processors on the market.

Similarly, the 10-inch Archos 101 G9 was originally pegged at a $349 starting price, but that’s been bumped to $369.99. That’s likely not the version with the 250GB hard drive, so you can expect to pay a further premium for that. In any case, the September launch window still looks like it’s holding true. That gives them plenty of time for another price hike.
