New text message service tells you where the cops are hiding |

 If you have a bit of a lead foot, your mobile phone could soon become your best friend. A Canadian company called JR Wireless wants to let you know where the speed traps are before you get caught in them. Their speed trap alert service brings an idea to Canada that has been around for several years already in Europe. All you have to do is send a text message from your phone including the highway you will be driving on or the area you are cruising around, and you will receive text messages detailing the speed traps that have been identified in the area.
Each message you receive will cost you 50 cents, though the first 20,000 that the company sends will be free as an introductory offering. The cost could add up, but it’s still better than the hit your insurance can take. Service starts today in Ontario and Quebec, and will expand further if it is successful.
