 Everyone seems to have their eyes on the Tesla Roadster, but there's another car that's starting to make waves in the environmentally conscious commuter demographic. Perhaps even more fascinating than the Aptera's unique three-wheel design is the fact that the prototype is capable of doing 230 miles on the gallon while cruising at 55mph.
The company isn't quite ready to roll this vehicle -- which looks like something out of a science fiction movie -- onto the streets of America, but they are ready to take "reservations" on the car. To get your name on the list, you just have to send $500 their way. You can choose between the all-electric model or the plug-in diesel hybrid.
Yes, the 230mpg sounds impressive, but that's still short of the 330mpg that the automaker promised last year. But hey, when you've got a drag coefficient of 0.11 and a 0-60 time of 10 seconds, I don't think very many people are going to complain. I doubt too many people will complain about the $20,000 or so asking price either.
