 USB flash drives are pretty ubiquitous these days, but it also means that people are starting to store some rather sensitive data on those little thumb drives. Because they are so small, it is far too easy to accidentally misplace a drive, effectively leaking all your financial documents and incriminating photos into the masses. But it doesn't have to be this way.
Kingston has just announced their new DataTraveler BlackBox USB flash drive and it comes equipped with "256-bit hardware-based AES encryption for maximum security." Hackers won't be able to make their way into your data through brute force either, because the drive automatically locks up after 10 unsuccessful password attempts. Not even the owner can get the data after that.
The drive adheres to the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) and this certification is critical for many government agencies. They want to protect their sensitive data, you see. The Kingston DataTraveler BlackBox drive is also physically tough, getting wrapped in a stainless steel casing surrounding by a titanium coating. It's waterproof for up to four feet.
The BlackBox is available in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB capacities for $165, $242, and $424, respectively.
