R.I.P. Wi-Fi HotSpot, Viva Mobile Broadband? |

 Although we haven't completely abandoned the landline, most of us have come to rely on our mobile phones for our voice call needs rather than being stuck to a plug in the wall. The same trend seems to be happening in the world of web-surfing on the go, because mobile broadband is rapidly increasing in popularity.
This hasn't really caught on in Canada yet, because our wireless data rates are through the roof, but the adoption of HSDPA and EV-DO PC cards in the United States is at an all-time high. The trend is even more pronounced when take a look at Europe. Ericsson chief marketing officer Johan Bergendhal says that "hotspots at places like Starbucks are becoming the telephone boxes of the broadband era."
When was the last time that you actually made a call in a phone booth? The same may soon be said about surfing the Internet on the run.
